Bit of a query really and it's a big if but if before last game of the season we are more than 9 points clear of relegation could we look to go into administration then take the 9 point hit this year and have the summer to try to get the club into some sort of order?

{Ed025's Note - good question that James, but i think it unlikely that we will be 9 points clear of the drop mate..

Hey Ed002 and Ed025,
It's been a while since I posted (I still read but don't contribute as the turmoil and current club controversies make it hard to be positive) , but hope you're both doing well, as well as the regular posters.
Anyways, I was curious if either of you may have any inside info on our managerial stance for end of season?
I think the tone of Mr. Dyche lately has been eye opening: he is publicly commenting on how this is not the vision sold to him, not the situation he would have taken on, feels like his tenure has lasted an eternity etc. it seems at odds with the typical stance of avoiding negative subjects in interviews and swerving uncomfortable questions. I believe it's already agreed and that he knows he is leaving when the season ends.
I think it gives us the golden opportunity to reappoint Mr. Moyes. Contract with W Ham expiring and obviously he's out the door as they're interviewing candidates to replace. He's expressed a desire to come back to Everton in the past (didn't he get offered the job and accepted prior to the sudden appointment of Mr. Ancellotti? ) and also, being an out of contract manager, he wouldn't require a compensation payment which evidently is beneficial in our current state.
Do you think Mr. Moyes could be a viable option to take over, or am I clutching at straws?

Have a great day regardless guys, and here's hoping to a brighter future.

{Ed025's Note - you are right Worcester he really thought he was getting the gig until Ancellotti threw his hat in the ring, he was bitterly disappointed but i have to say i dont want him back mate, too much has gone under the bridge since he was with us and the way he departed left a sour taste in the mouth, i do hope Dyche does leave though as even though he has kept us afloat the football has been nothing short of boring and pathetic imo, i would like us to go with an up and coming young manager who can change the mentality of the team and connect with the supporters myself, but it wont be easy for whoever takes the job with the state this once great club is in at the moment, nice to hear from you though my friend..

Agree0 0Disagree

23 Apr 2024 14:57:28
Well Moyes was an up and coming young manager when we got him. They are out there Ed, just need to find the right one.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely Brass, forget all these supposedly great managers who want to come to boost their pension pot, we need someone who can revamp this sleeping giant and give us back our identity mate, someone with hunger and fresh ideas who will hopefully get rid of all the hangers on and players that are stealing a living..

Agree0 0Disagree

23 Apr 2024 15:14:21
Good to hear from you, Worcester.
I'm with Ed25 I'm afraid, no more backwards steps please.
A young, hungry positive manager and a young, hungry, positive squad please. Rather be at the bottom of a ladder I want to climb than at the top of one I don't.

Agree0 0Disagree

23 Apr 2024 15:59:54
A pleasure to see such a great reply Ed025, and a couple of very valid, interesting comments.
I definitely agree that the ideal would be a young hungry manager for a fresh start but I fear that this is an awful time to go with that approach. We're in turmoil, financially ruined, a squad devoid of confidence and more than likely facing yet more sanctions next season. Putting a young, emerging manager into next seasons inevitable problems could absolutely ruin the guys future.
Mr. Moyes did run out on us in a very bad fashion, attempted to raid our players and of course it hurt. But it's hard to argue against his capabilities. Look at the wonderful job he's done at West Ham. The guy has nerves of steel and if anyone can take on our problems with confidence it's him. I honestly believe having him in charge for a couple of seasons to get our house in order and put us on a steady footing is the sensible move.
But regardless, whoever is appointed needs our support because the job is probably the toughest in the league to take without the fans adding even more pressure.

{Ed025's Note - going back is never a great idea imo Worcester, i understand that people will want him back mate and that is their prerogative but just not for me, my reason for wanting an up and coming manager is that i believe we need to sweep out the cobwebs of this club with a new broom and new direction, bring in cheap but hungry starlets who are desperate to prove themselves because lets be honest this looks like the only option we have...lets roll the dice..

Agree0 0Disagree

23 Apr 2024 16:26:07
Moyes no way, he is a has been, how many times has he been sacked after running away from us to man who and then was sacked.

{Ed025's Note - you are preaching to the converted there 22 mate..

Not being funny. Who would come to Everton? I think Dyche has done a remarkable job. If we had our points back we would be safe and it would be an improvement on last year. Just think of all the players he has inherited! Other managers signings. We need to keep Branthwaite but you just know that will not happen. As for Onana, I don't get it. What does he bring to the team? Sell him and let's get players in that want to give 110% every game. Realistically it will not happen because of our finances.
Would have to agree with most posters on here that the team needs to change its tactics. Maybe it is time for a new manager, But not Moyes. Sorry to rant on. Just gutted the way the club has been ran into the ground by a clueless Moshiri.

Whatever league we're in next season, a new manager HAS to be the number 1 priority. Would love Potter but doubt he'd come to us. Moyes returning, maybe. If Newcastle replace Howe, I'd try to get him here. going to stop now as my head hurts lol.

With finances as tight as they are don’t think a new manager will be an option - frustrating as we’re all bored of the drivel being currently served up even though we have a higher point tally than last season.

However with it looking like we need to sell players to achieve PSR compliance would fans be happy if we sold Onana, branthwaite and Pickford to achieve this and then pay off Dyche and spend money on recruiting a new manager if those sales afforded us to do that?

Or if we could achieve PSR compliance by only selling 2 of those players and have Dyche see out the year left in his contract and then recruiting a new manager be preferable?

Think its crucial that a rebuild structure has to start from the top we all know moshiri doesn't want part of this great club that has clearly been derailed since his ownership of the club 777 still no update on there stance if they do get giving the green light to take over do i want them personally no due to there reputation with other ownership of clubs abroad but is there anyone once actually interested who would consider buying everton if 777 don't and could we go into administration if no takeover is completed be interested get any of the eds thoughts on that situation but basically we need get are wages down so maupay alli gomes keane can go far am concerned would extend gana a 1 year contract if he wants to take pay cut dcl and pickford would consider for good price but can't see anyone interested in dcl due to his injuries braithwaite would love to keep but he will get poached by bigger club and tbh good luck to the lad onana aswell got potential imagine he will be sold but any money we do generate can we trust dyche an thelwell to identify targets am not so sure as for next manager for me i would take moyes yes we know the circumstances in why he left but you can't blame him man united came in for him safe pair of hands knows the club can set a team up to attack an defend in a 90 minute mate that would be my solution potter be good shout but can't see him joining us and my ouysider julien lopetagi fought he done good job at wolves like his set up and attacking philosophy but again would he be interested anyways hope everyone has a good day and hopefully can get a point tommorow against reds tommorow but not holding breath but you never know COYB.

If we are stuck with Moyes until a takeover is complete or his contract expires.

Someone I would like and who could be available but I know would be out of reach for us ATM is Ten Haag, he is going to leave Man Utd but giving the right environment and backing with us think he could move us on as a club, I know not going to happen and his time at Man U not been great but given a stable well ran club with good youth and decent squad, all of which we ain't but kinda guy a club like us could do a lot worse than once the dust settles and a reset begins.

Would be absolutely no point in changing the manager now (I mean he's just bought a track suit) . Wait until we have new owners and let them asses what is needed.
There's been a lot of talk about who is being sold, us having no money to buy bla bla bla. But until we know who our new owners are it's all up in the air.
Let's secure Premiership football for another season then see what comes along.

{Ed002's Note - I don't think you realise how serious the situation is and by mid May the club could be looking to Administration.}

I'd take not getting another thumping like Chelsea. He who I'll no longer name made a quip about "2 wins in 3 and clean sheets" well it could also be 2 absolute a99 whoopings in 3. Anything less than a rugby score and something like a good performance but ultimately beaten by no more than 2 goals would be as good as it gets.

This season, we were drawing with man united, 1/1, player bust in to the box, feel over his own feet, ref gave us a free kick and booked the player for a dive, then VAR had a word, guess what penalty.

Against man city, 1/1 ball hit from two yards away, ref gives corner, then VAR com in and yes penalty, so we know all about VARS record, and for once it went our way, so suck it up and get on with it, afderall in the whole of the second half Pickford did not have one shot to save.

22 Apr 2024 12:37:16
Reading the posts below I can't help but think Sean will be gone before the next season starts,777 or whoever takes us over the first thing they will want to do is impress the fans and a new manager will be high on their list, personally I would like to see most of present Squad gone just had enough of them bar a couple it's time for young blood, the books have to be balanced so the big earners will be moved on, bring in players who actually want to wear our shirt, I've had enough of this tripe and now at the end of this season is a very good time for action.

{Ed025's Note - i agree GB but the problem comes when trying to get these freeloaders off the books mate, only idiots would give them the sort of wages they are on here...so it wont be easy..

Agree2 0Disagree

22 Apr 2024 14:21:14
Is there anyone you would keep GB?

I would keep tarkowski, garner and if possible branthwaite. The rest can go with my blessing!

Agree0 0Disagree

22 Apr 2024 14:38:54
We get gomes, allí and gueye off the books this summer anyway.

Branthwaite is great but £80-100m is a huge fee to help ffp and re invest in the squad.

I would also sell Pickford if someone offered £50m because as good as he is, you can pick up a good goalkeeper for way less, and a lesser salary.

I actually think DCL is a good striker but is wasted under Dyche and injury prone, again his sale would help ffp and get him off the wage bill.

Also Doucoure if someone comes in for him.

The problem is, say you bring in the best part of £160m for DCl, Branthwaite and Pickford.

I don't trust the board/ recruitment or Dyche to use it well.

I thought we had turned a corner after flogging some big earners but bringing in Maupay, beto, chermiti and Mcneil just hows how bad are recruitment team is.

The joys of being a blue haha.

22 Apr 2024 17:53:46
But surely new owners would mean a new board?
Gomes, Ali and Gueye means we are getting rid of three big earners. Two hardly ever play and one’s getting on a bit. Not sure we would miss them tbh.
I would let Onana go if we could get good money for him. But I would try everything to hold on to Branthwaite.
Need a right back, two midfielders and two wingers who can beat a man and cross a ball. NOT Harrison.

Personally onana would be numero 1 on my list to sell. Seems clubs are willing to pay top dollar for him. I have to agree with carragher in that he's absolutely bobbins.
God dare I say it I would keep gomes on present form as we can't possibly sell all of them in 1 summer. Get rid of:-

Onana
Young (give him away)
Michael Keane (he can get a lift with young, I will drive! )
Dacoure
Idrissa
Patterson
Dcl
Danjuma
Mcneil (woeful this season)
Pickford (agree, can get as good a keeper for a lower wage)
Mykalenko.

22 Apr 2024 19:42:00
If the new board were competent and targeted actual improvments to the squad, which let's be honest shouldn't be difficult. I'd get rid of most of the team, I don't mind selling Branthwaite as long as it is a massive fee, as he is worth every penny payed for him.
I'd happily take Johnson from West Ham at rb on a free, Brownhill, Che Adams also free. We also have to use the loan market far more effectivly and sign player we actaully will use haha.
Would any take Barkley back? I would be not if he had ridiculous wage demands.

Penalties! the 'handball' has now been tightened (rightly in my view) so correct decision. The whoa is me after thought, after tackle, planting of foot showed intention to go down. The only baffling one is through the back of the lad and the ref claiming Young made ball contact made worse by VAR seemingly agreeing with the ref. Having said that though, we would have claimed all three. This has to have been the worse season yet for VAR, the Prem making up their own Accounting rules and PSR punishments on the hoof. After 70 odd years of football enthusiasm, Masters in his desperation has ruined it for me.

Defenders know now that they have to keep their arms to there sides or behind there back when trying to block crosses. Unfortunately Young is not a defender, he’s a liability.

I think the differences of opinion on the handball scenatii on this site probably excuses the VAR team from changing the refs decision. I am still not sure about it, as I can't seem to get my head around the handball penalty situation. Not sure handball would be given outside the penalty area though.

The victory today with the help of blind VAR was enormous.

We should have 3 winnable matches, and a 4 point lead on NF (and a good of +4 for us) . NF has maybe 2 winnable matches.

Luton his 5 point behind but our good is +14. They've go 3 mid table teams and Everton.

Burnley is 7 points back and a good of +18. They have one winnable match against Forest.

We may get a point or two back, and Forest may get a couple back.

A question for general consumption and discussion:

We have a number of loans ending and contracts ending. Holgate may show back up as may Maupay.

Of the players out of contract, would we want to sign any of them. Gana or Gomes perhaps?

It appears a number of the U21's contracts are up. Are any of them PL-worthy (as if all of our senior team players are PL-worthy) ?

Agree0 0Disagree

22 Apr 2024 07:59:03
Think he’ll let Gomes and Gueye go. Same with Deli and the other big earners. Young should be gone as he’s a massive liability.

Branthwaite and Onana will get sold.

He’ll probably bring in Woods from Forest and a few other small signings.

Think Pickford will stay.

Who knows?
