I don't call hanging on to a 1 goal lead for 88 mins just desperately hoofing the ball away as far as possible all game a great defensive performance. Sociedad are welcome to him give me Roberto any day.

Yes, the same moyesie that got thrashed 4-0 by villareal, managing the same real sociedad team that beat real in less boring circumstances early in the seson.

Right Mike you can quote this in let's say three months, at least moyes had a plan b

I am old school in as much as I would take a 1-0 win playing Sunday Morning football rather than a 1-0 loss playing ticky tacky football. Roberto is not the Manager we should have had in the first place, he maybe a nice man but he is also a stubborn man. Even when Wigan were on the way down, he stubbornly refused to change their playing style and that is unforgivable. I am genuinely scared for our Premiership survival under Roberto's stewardship.

. I blame Kenwright. he needs to stop making instantaneous decisions based on heart-felt feelings & emotions & start using his head. any sensible person/chairman would of checked Martinezs cv thoroughly first, then maybe he would of spotted an obvious floor in his defensive records & the fact he's never had a plan 'a' & not a plan 'b'. at the end of the day, this is the English Premier league - not a Sunday afternoon Spanish style league - you have to tactically have a balanced approach & be able to mix it up occasionally to match the opponent. quite straight-forward really!

It's funny how some love and some hate Moyes. I am guessing the younger ones hate him because we never actually won anything for the 10 years he was our manager. The older ones like me who saw some of the drivel served up under Wlater Smith orMike Walker or Billy Bingham or Gordon Lee will tell you. a hard fought 1 nil win is much better than free flowing football with a 1 nil defeat. And people forget, Moyes had us playing brilliant football in his last couple of seasons. Certainly most of today's team were signed by Moyes and we got pretty close to winning a trophy a couple of times. I cannot see that happening under RM now. People are talking about the FA Cup and Europa League. If we continue playing the way we have for the last 10 games there is only one thing that is certain.and I don't even have to spell it out because you already know in your hearts what I am on about. If that happens, God forbid, I do not believe our once great club will ever recover to be the force it once was.

{Ed025's Note - moyes was the king of mediocrity, yes the guy done well for us, but some of the football was dire, and we could never progress under a miserable sod like him with his defeatist attitude, i was made up when he left, and even happier when the prick fell flat on his arse at united..im not saying martinez is the answer, but we deffo needed a change degs..

Dont know why you included Gordon Lee on your list Degsy, we played some good stuff and came close a couple of times under him imo. And he brought the trenchie into fashion.

{Ed025's Note - i never liked him jimmy...mind you..im scared of vampires..

Sorry Ed, I am with Zacki. I actually think Moyes had us playing much better football than what is served up now. Tip tap does nothing for me. Just before Moyes left, I thought we were a real challenge for the top 4 and when he joined we had some terrible players. At the time he left, we had our strongest squad for years. I know he said some things after he left, but I can forgive him for that after weighing up all the pros and cons. I am guessing you are a bit younger than me and don't remember all the rubbish served up by Lee, Bingham, Walker and Smith?

Degsypulford

{Ed025's Note - i am 56 degsy...so those were in my hayday mate, cant forgive traitors..

. I reckon if there was a chance, Kenwright would have Moyes back in a heartbeat.he loved that guy to bits. & yes, he never won us a trophy but when you look back just look at those signings he made for such small dosh - Cahill (2 million) Arteta 2 million, Coleman (600k), Mirallas 5 million, Stones etc etc & loads more. I think all Moyes lacked in his time at Everton was a top top striker but he was never given that large chunk of money to do that. yet Bobby comes in & gets 27k blown on a striker in his first season. i'd have Moyes back in a heartbeat - he'd certainly get Lukaku firing with a game style to match his strengths. interestingly, he's been talking about his early days at Everton tonight in an interview to a Spanish sports channel & has compared last nights win against Barcelona to his earlier days @ Everton. r you sending a timely message at this time too Mr K. David?

Zacki

{Ed025's Note - i will send him a message zacki...and the second word is off..

Lol ed :)

Really zacki? because I remember when moyes did have money to spend, bily, johnson, beattie, jelavic, yakubu, let's not forget kroldrup and heitinga too. Moyes would loan lukaku to the championship, or would ruin him because he isn't a workhorse, get naisy out wide, barkley back in the under 21s, garbutt, oviedo, stones and mccarthy all leave. Neville comes in as assistant, get chris woods back, have osman and gibson as our centre midfielders, try and get arteta back to put him on the wing, eto and besic would be kicked out, no 'flair' players just grafters, just to play out of position, maybe offer mccarthy plus 15m for fellaini to come back. I cannot take anyone serious when they honestly want moyes back or would prefer him back, let's also not forget bottling every big game again, parking the bus just to try and clinch a draw at the emirates. I will tell you the differences as to why moyes will never be a top manager, he isn't a winner. i'm not ungrateful for what he did, he did well, also anyone who says we were solely a long ball team is an person, but he had expired over here, then he offered 28m for, at the time, our 2 best players (which I now wish we had accepted due to baines being absolute sh*te). Then he said we are holding them back (despite him now managing real sociedad), he then said, had fergie came in with a similar offer, he would find it hard to refuse. Which makes him a hypocrite after the way he ranted on about lescott while here (to which lescott was unfairly treated by our fans may I add). i'm not going to do what arsenal fans do and claim anyone who leaves is a money grabbing traitor, I didn't hate moyes when he left, I hated him for his actions after he left, I hated arteta after he left because there is no need in what he did that deadline day, thankfully, bar a lucky fa cup final over hull he has accomplished bugger all since leaving, I don't hate fellaini and don't agree with booing him, he had numerous chances to leave, he could of got 5m off us on deadline day but put in a request, in our favour, we ripped them off and i'm glad he's being appreciated more at utd, kind of. i'm happy with the way things have turned out for out former manager and players, moyes failed at utd, lol, but I hope he does well at real sociedad, as long as he stays away from everton, i'm made up arteta is on his way out at arsenal and isn't very liked by a large sum of their fans, and never got his 'dream' spain cap, but i'm also happy fellaini is in a team on the up (im happy for fellaini but still dislike utd of course) and that lescott won the prem before he left city. Now before you say 'but what about martinez nuh nuh nuh', I support everton, I don't support roberto martinez, I support everton and look for EVERTONS results and games, not drooling on about going back to being 'slightly better than anyone outside the top 8' enjoy the game tonight lads.

Fair enough Swanny. but you say about Moyes bottling big games against the big teams? Mate, we're bottling all games against not do big teams including the likes of Hull, Stoke, Southampton etc etc at the mo. these were games we would of 1 under Moyes so depends which way you look at it. on the subject of signings, apart from McCarthy I think Bobbys record has thus far been appalling. the spine of our current team is ex-Wigan (who were relegated with the same players) are Robles, Alcaraz, McCarthy & Kone - top drawer that mate. spine of Moyes team was Howard, Jags & Distin, Baines, Coleman, Arteta, Cahill but just lacked that top 20+ million pound striker.at the time that spine was far better than what we have now. don't get me wrong, I really hope Bobby can turn it round but I feel he only has 1 or 2 games to do so b4 he is sacked then the roller coaster begins.

im not happy with martinez at the moment, I said that in my post, please don't mention moyes' spine, that's degsys big shout. do people want martinez to sell EVERYONE who was at the club while moyes was here and start from scratch, then win the league before they will be happy, moyes is like some smeg that won't wash away, he needs to be forgotton about, if martinez goes then we need something different all together. we are not bottling these games so much as the players not being bothered to try. but all in all? everton are what matters most

Agreed. Koeman would do me, but highly unlikely!

Zacki

I agree with Zacki. Moyes spine of the team was much stronger and he had Fellaini to play either holding player or if games were slipping away. to push forward. Distin was obviously to be replaced by Stones. another good shout as far as I am concerned. He also did ok with johnson. I don't forget him losing big money on him? Nor Jelavic? I thought we made profit on him? Yak was unfortunate with a terrible injury too. So Swan, I would say that signings of Robles, Kone, Alcaraz, McGeady, Atsu and even Barry and Besic have not really improved our squad at all. I said that about the Wigan link at the time, but you had a different view on it then if you remember. You told me they were all good signings. Your memory is slipping mate.

Degsypulford

{Ed025's Note - i can just imagine your bedroom wall degsy...3 lifesize pictures of moyes flanked by ossie and felli...move on mate.. :)

06 Jan 2015 22:33:03
I told you they were all good signings? Nope, don't remember, I remember calling kone a decent buy, then asked to get rid when I found out he was riding camels. Alcaraz is better than distin, besic hasn't had a chance, I've always thought atsu was garbage, never said joel was a good signing. I think you suffer from a case of makethingsupitus, I know you told me you thought the pairing of osman and neville was better than reid and bracewell, you told me osman had a better left foot than sheedy, you also told me david moyes is the greatest manager of all time. See I can do it to, although they are probably your actual views, you go on about the yak and his injury, what about kone? Yep you forgot that one, does it send shivers down your spine seeing moyes getting a jammy victory over barcelona? Do you have to pop a pillow over your lap, you still never answered my question, so I will mix it up, leon osman or cesc fabregas, david moyes or jose mourinho and phil neville or nemanja matic, come on degsy, don't hold back.
