Joel-7-really impressed with him, his distribution is top notch, he is willing to kick it from his hands to start counters, unlike howard. i'm not getting overhyped but he did well today. Coleman-6.5-YES! finally something from him, wprked hard. Stones-7-hes brilliant, really brilliant, boss lad, made up to have him. Jagielka-6-he just urks me now, not a leader and not a man. Baines-6.5-usual crap delivery bar one, which funnily enough led to a goal, should still of been sold though. Besic-8-what a fighter he is, his passing was wonderful, his leadership abilities at 21 are sublime, what a talent. Barry-6.5-couple of stray passes but a few moments of good play. Mcgeady-6-im being generous, simply because he did try today and put a foot in, but that cross in the second half, jesus. Barkley-4-i mean, what a bad sh*thouse, backed away from every tackle, too slow on the ball, has a massive arse, certainly putting the beef on, passing was dreadful, didn't move, didn't tackle and is asleep most of the game, and people honestly think we shouldn't sell him? he's 21, as is besic, who is better and more mature? exactly. Naismith-7.5-another fighter, a leader, good goal, works his socks off and wins every header, what a man. Lukaku-7.5-i actually got a bit annoyed after the match when someone said anichebe was better and we had been spanked for 28m. Lukaku today was boss, bullied mangala, who cost 32m and still hasn't settled in, he ran at people, held it up, won headers and drove us on, feel lucky to have him and I appreciate him as a young player. Mirallas-6-dont know why he was on the bench tbh. FINALLY FFS! Some fight from our team, good atmosphere, good performance, if anything? We deserved the win, martin atkinson is a bellend. i'd rather of got 3 points but i'm happy with that game, hopefully a sign of things to come.

Barkley is class lad get a grip, for me mo besic offers nothing out of his depth, he will never have an assist or score, gone me ross any day

Tristen

Everyone played well today swan, apart from Mcgeady and Barkley. I would just like to know what position Barkley was playing because to me all first half it looked like he was marking Naismith they where that close together wide left. And just a thought maybe a poll Mirallas or Mcgeady?

jimmy c

Besic seems to be getting better the more games that he plays. He gives you 110% in every game and is like a snapping bulldog. If more of the players show his sort of committment to the blue shirt we won't be in a relegation battle.Great result today.

Tristin, no offence, but that was just silly, jimmy, that would be a pointless poll.

Swan to be honest and I know I'm going to getter ripped for this but I agree I think we should sell Barkley whilst someone is willing to pay silly money for him, we can't miss what we don't have and we could get 3 top quality foreign players for the prices that are being mentioned. I hope Ross goes onto being a superstar but we need squad improvement now!

Tristen, I think Ross upset Swan in school in some way which is why he constantly knocks the lad! Whilst Osman is out of the team he needs to rip into someone.
Ross has paid the price this season for his ability to play in numerous positions, as well as the team playing crap. He is by far not the finished article and has much to learn but to slate him week in week out says more about the person who is posting. The lad is special and, with the right guidance, will become an Everton great

10 Jan 2015 19:53:32
Didnt go to the same school as him, I also enjoy slating aiden roll mcgeady and phil spineless jagielka. Both of whom were crap today, but, thing is, ross doesn't actually do anything now does he? For a number 10.he gets no assists, for someone who shoots so often he doesn't score, and for someone who can play so many positions he's pretty crap in all of them. I see people comparing him to gerrard, gerrard, at this age was a driving force for liverpool, ross, is just the player that always loses it, doesn't run and has a phobia of passing the ball. If we got offered 40m don't tell me youd reject it, in fact, i'd 25% of that in a heartbeat. If he was german, well, he'd be in the reserves of a bundesliga 2 side, he's the same age as julian draxler and they are apparently similar in price, jesus.

10 Jan 2015 21:12:54
You may enjoy slating the other two as well but you have special feelings for Ross! If he was as bad as you say, then he wouldn't even make it in the pro game. You've just said it yourself, for a number 10 what does he do? The question should be, Swan, for a number 10 why does he get shoved in to different positions? Yes, I would reject it as I agree with pundits, who have a greater knowledge than you or I, that this lad is going to be something special.
Gerrard never missed as much football as Ross in his main development years so to compare the two is deceiving.

10 Jan 2015 22:12:38
But when he has been played in the number 10 he has been useless, correct? So injuries are the only thing stopping him being the next gerrard? that's laughable. The reason he gets shoved into different positions is because he isn't as good as naismith, the reason he isn't in the centre is because mccarthy and besic are better, in fact, if we had another winger on the level of mirallas, barkley wouldn't be in the team i'd hope. he's english, which automatically makes him world class, NOT, he's a 'blue', another reason to overhype him. Rooney at 16 was better than barkley is now, or probably ever will be. Now of course not everyone has had a broken leg as an excuse for being abit crap, mario gotze has had a few injury problems, as has alex oxlade chamberlain, both of whom are better than barkley, and were at 21. Evertonians love overhyping youngsters that are not really that good, rodwell (always garbage), vaughan (not his fault, the boy had heart, which is more than can be said for rossy baby and had cruel injury problems no one should have at that age) and baxter . The reality is a lot of english youngsters, particularly midfielders, are not that good, the likes of sterling, ox and berahino are all overrated, but still much better than barkley and actually contribute. Watch ross barkley closely next game, honestly think to yourself 'is he really that good', the answer is no, he's nothing but a passanger, which will fit in well when we sign cleverley, the worst footballer in history, 2 useless english players that wouldn't get in any other prem team. You see I don't get it, if you don't like someone you must be out to get them. Does that work both ways? Because i'd like to be able to say 'hes obviously giving you some of his wages to like him' or 'you must be barkley in disguise' if not, shame, if so? Whoopy doo. #nextgerrardmyarse #overrated

11 Jan 2015 00:02:09
As always Swan, you never fail to chat such utter crap. I never said anything about him becoming the next Gerrard, injuries or no injuries. I said it is deceiving to compare them. Gerrard, at 21, had played about 100 league games, Ross has probably played around half of that, give or take. Yes a bad leg break has curtailed his development, that you can't dispute. When he has played that role, he has had good games and he has had bad games like the entire squad.
Nobody said he was world class but I did say he has the potential to be a special talent. To call him useless is quite laughable! Yes it can work both ways, if that's what you want. The way you rip into certain players is a point I was making, a bit over the top and plain crazy :) but I can assure you that Ross does not give me any of his wages, sad but true.

11 Jan 2015 01:55:25
Ross has played about 60 odd, but the fact (fact as in fact) of the matter is, he isn't special, he runs past the odd midfielder once a month, but has no technical ability to speak of. His through balls (the few he has played) go away from the strikers run. He has to do the same thing, he cannot do any tricks and despite being 6 foot 2 he's so bloody weak! Gets pushed around. His range of passing is below average at best, average to decent midfielders (britton, diame, rosicky etc) can play long diagnol passes, ross, instead decides to turn back and sprint towards his own goal then pass it to jagielka or stones. He doesn't look up when he runs, takes ages to make up his mind, shoots from unrealistic distances and shows no leadership qualities. He cannot spread play, doesn't move the ball quickly enough, gets beaten in the air too easily, loses concentration and cannot tackle. If a midfielder cannot pass well then at least be a good tackler or work hard and vice versa for if you can't tackle (scholes) but ross possesses none of these things. He often runs sideways around the box and what annoys me most? he's THE LAZIEST PLAYER IN THE TEAM. I mean, I have a go at osman, mcgeady, pienaar and baines but christ almighty at least they try sometimes. You mentioned he has good games and bad games, I think arsenal away last season was his best game. People mention swansea away, a game were he scored a jammy free kick but also missed a sitter by falling over. Even the 3-0 win over arsenal he was dreadful. Even in his best game at the emirates, anyone could look good running at arteta!. So spud, if we got offered 40m would you take it.

Swan, I don't disagree about Ross's recent performances. However, like Rom his is still learning his trade and to be fair to the lad I don't think he has been played constantly in a posisiton that would see him really progress. IMO when he and Mo played as the centre mid pairing I thought they both played relly well. Given time and playing in his prefered position I think we would see a solid improvement in his game.

Again, no point even entertaining you as go off on one. I know you like to come across to everyone as controversial but this is extreme even for you mate! To say he has no technical ability is up there with your Ferdinand shout haha. You say 'fact as in fact' when, infact, that is just your own warped (and biased) opinion.
40m? I wouldn't take it, as I said in previous comments. Your crazy talk isn't going to change my mind mate. For example, you can't even give the lad a bit of credit for a good free kick last year against Swansea! A jammy free kick! Unbelievable. My nephew is similar to you, glass half empty and all that and it gets right on my moobs :) Maybe it's a generation thing but, if so, I truly worry about the support our club is going to have in the next decade.

11 Jan 2015 13:59:41
Hmm i'm being completely honest now, I don't remember the ferdinand shout, I remember refusing to call him the greatest centre back since the start of human life and got really desperate and said something stupid. Thing is, turns out MANY people thought he was overrated, sorry if its a crime. I also don't get how i'm 'biased' when I support everton so. So you wouldn't take 40m for an attacking midfielder who has about 4 assists in over 70 games? Right. I think he will be playing for leicester or stoke in 3 years time, yoy clearly dont, he won't make it, but that means i'm biased, you think he will, so you're biased too then right?.

11 Jan 2015 15:25:50
Unbelievable Swan! You twist things people say to make a point, that is a given. You never liked Barkley from the start, at the very least you was slating him before he realy broke into the first team. I remember you made a comment about him and said something about him in school, hence why in my first reply I said he'd upset you in school!
Ferdinand? You lost all credability with me and a few others, when you stated you had watched him since he came through, which worked out you was 5yrs old! I bring that up from time to time as it shows you will say anything to prove your point! Many people may think he was overrated just as many think Ross is going to be a special player. Biased to your own point of view I meant mate, you won't give any player a bit of credit if you don't like them. My final word on the Ross thing. Last year he did well, like the rest of the squad, during his proper breakthrough season. This season he hasn't played half as well. I put that down to two things. 1) He was playing catch up due to injury 2) The team has been poor so far this season, we can't expect him to be playing out of his skin if senior pro's are not pulling their weight. Think there is more chance of you playing for Stoke or Leicester mate, ridiculous shout

Interesting lol I'm with u on this one spudv
