Kone mcgeady Oviedo might move.Osman hibbert Barry will get one more year hopefully no bids for our better young players Barkley lukaku stones garbut Coleman McCarthy these players are the future of Everton and can not be sold Bk must resist all offers on these lads and look to add to them weather he trusts Rm to do it is another thing.

I got verbal abuse for predicting this last season. From one or two posters admittedly. Apparently I was being negative. That's because although we have a fantastic talent spotting network, RM insists on loan players or "easy" signings. By that I mean players being released by other English clubs or who are close to home. There was a reason Barry was released by Man City. Likewise Lennon was Spurs 3rd choice right winger.there is a reason for that too. Kone, McGeady and Alcaraz were also easy lazy signings. You could even say it about McCarthy. Only Besic has so far proved to be a targeted networked signing. ie spotting good youth.I don't want Moyes back but at least he went out and found young talent or listened to our network of talent spotters. Coleman, Stones, Mirallas, Baines, Jags and others were allbrought in either youthful or unknown and from lower leagues rather than relying on other teams cast offs. We now have a complete overhaul needed and I don't think RM is capable. I see problems ahead. Like I said last season.

Robles is coming good and even wanted more than Howard.

McCarthy is a quality player and when he adds goals you can put him up there with some of the best in the EPL.

Besic has a few bad habits but once he gets over these he will be a fantastic player.

Lukaku has a lot of attitude issues and unfortunately believes his own hype. However, he is going to be a great striker one day.

Kone we got for peanuts in this day and age and with his injury last season we never managed to see the best of him. Getting that type of injury at his age is going to finish you at the top level.

Alcaraz was a free and I'll admit over priced at that.

Barry was another free but his first season justified a free punt at this with him a well. It just hasn't worked out.

McGeady is awful at passing 1 yard in front of him but his crossing and picking out a player in the box is good. No excuse though he is terrible and I wouldn't have him anywhere near the starting 11 or bench or ground or in Merseyside.

The loan players very rarely work the way you want them too. Atsu has proved even on loan he's not good enough. Lennon is OK but not someone I would fork out more than 4 mil on. I still haven't seen a good cross from him yet that isn't just a hit and hope.

Ged Def was the one that got away and we won't get him back but when you look at when he has had to outlay money he hasn't done badly.

Frees and loans are that for a reason and why they never really end positively. Spend a bit of money and you get what you pay for.

I don't feel its as bad as people make out. Its not like we're losin our best players.
Im sure most of us would have browning or galloway ahead of distin or alcaraz on this seasons showing. We'd all rather Joel instead of Howard. Pienaar has been a shadow of his former self. Only one imo we'd miss is Osman & that is as a rotated squad player and his leadership qualities. If (big if) we can keep Coleman Stones Garbutt McCarthy Besic Barkley Lukaku with the squad players and youngsters due to the lack of europe with a few good additions we're in a decent position to build.

01 Apr 2015 11:54:04
There may be trouble ahead,
But while there's Barkley and Garbutt and Coleman and Clevs,
Let's face the music and dance.

Before Tim Howard has fled,
Before they ask us to pay the bill,
And while we will buy the Clevs,
Let's face the music and dance.

Soon, we'll be without the Clown,
Humming a different tune,
And then, there will be no tear drops to shed.
So while there's McCarthy and Besic and Robles and Clevs,
Let's face the music and dance.
Let's face the music and dance.

Martinez wanted stones at wigan, so wanted him, mirallas wasnt unkown as arsenal and liverpool wanted him. Mccarthy an easy signing? Ah okay mate. he's quality, but i'm just going to go out on a limb and say you probably liked neville and arteta. In fact i'm going to go further and say mccarthy is better than any midfielder moyes EVER had, oh and if you count rooney because he sometimes plays there 11 years later for utd, get your coat

01 Apr 2015 17:02:57
When was this preditiction, is be less surprised. If you predicted this a few games in the maybe i'd believe but like with osman I don't think so, I had people having a go at me for me saying motes done better than people will give credit but there's no way anyone thought we would be this far down after last season

What is worrying is that the club have allowed the overall squad age to keep rising so we are now in a position of having to replace several 30 plus players and the cost is going to be significant. Our league position will be our lowest for several seasons so the money there will not be great. I'm sure we have a reasonable budget but hate the thought of selling our better and brighter players to fund a rebuilding programme.

Thank goodness for you Wakka57. It appears that when I put a post on here, certain quarters just start having a go and nit picking individual parts of it with confrontational comments (see above) At least you read the jist of my post that was on here last season. In the 11 years Moyes was here, he brought the average age of the squad down.fact. When he took over, we had a very old squad and over his 11 years replaced the old guard with younger player. I do accept players like Neville played on too long and maybe even one or two others. But overall the average age went down by loads. RM came in and got rid of Anichebe (23) for £4 million and paid £6 million for Kone. (30). He paid £4 million for Barry (87 now by the way he plays) He has faded Distin out and replaced him with Alcaraz. At least Distin could play a little bit. Alcaraz looks completely out of his depth. All in all, 2 years on we have our squad 2 years older (obviously) with additions of players like Barry and Alcaraz. Yes McCarthy, Besic and Robles appear good youthful signings. Lukaku too. But to bring in McGeady, Lennon, Alcaraz and Barry to an ageing squad within a two year timespan is poor management in my opinion. Next season is critical for us to bring in 4 or 5 young players.

02 Apr 2015 13:52:54
Lennon? what's wrong? he's the same age as mirallas and the distin part, wow, he's the worst footballer in the squad. He couldn't 'play a little bit', he is and always has been, awful on the ball, he makes mamadou sakho look like maldini. Yeah maetinez had no ageing players when he joined left by moyes did he, oh apart from howard, hibbert, distin, osman, pienaar. We also didn't pay 4m for barry, don't exagerate, the way I see it, our front line went from vellios, jelavic and anichebe to naismith, kone and lukaku and I know which i'd rather have.

Biggest worry is Martinez the man to be trusted in rebuilding! Agree with both posts Degsy & Swan, Martinez only quality signing at first was McCarthy and he took a few games to settle, Alcaraz, Robles and Kone were to him the best of the rest at Wigan, but were not good enough for Everton! Moyes had already brought few some younger players that were now ready to step up, namely Barkley, Stones and oviedo. Lukaku was up for loan so no surprise there, in fact the mirallas connection possibly tipped that one our way.
This summer is so important going forward but we really need another striker, a CB a RB winger all first team quality.

03 Apr 2015 01:04:15
degsy were in your statement have you mentioned moyes? all you do is try and give yourself credit for stuff, like bringing up osamans in game stats but in reality he's at best average, I only reply to most of your posts because they seem slightly self centred despite tou think osmans 31

03 Apr 2015 09:26:02
Wow too much stuff to respond to so I will try and be objective. I will try and give facts although I admit some is just my opinion:
1. The average age of the squad is much higher than 2 years ago.
2. I did predict this at the beginning of last season and got slated for being negative
3. Our season has picked up again with Osman in the team. We were dreadful mid season without him. We have won only 3 or 4 games all season without him. I cannot ignore stats like that. Even last week people were saying he is crap. I missed the game so only caught the highlights and saw him set up Coleman's goal with a perfectly weighted pass.
5. I know this one will wind a lot of you up but.I think we are all over rating McCarthy. Swan, no offence mate, but how many goals has McCarthy scored since he has been with us? How many assists has he made in nearly 2 seasons? I agree that he is physically superb and a great shield in front of the back 4. But surely we should expect more going forwards? Is it not Barry's job to shield the back 4? Do we need 2 midfielders to shield the back 4? Especially 2 midfielders who on average score 1.5 goals per season together? That puts tremendous strain on the rest of the team to score the goals surely?
6. Lennon is also absolutely average. Wait and see. Yes he is quick. Yes he is trying hard to impress at the moment. Yes he can go past full backs.but he can then balloon a pass into the top tier of the Gladwys Street. I have watched him for 7 or 8 seasons and seen him have probably 15 to 20 good games in that time. Wait and see. I will remind you next season. If Lennon is that good, why is he behind Andros Townsend in the Spurs pecking order?

03 Apr 2015 15:11:06
If osmans that good why is he behind mccarhty in the pecking order?. Also if you're going to base an opinion on a player because of what pochettino thinks, he also called danny rose the best left back in the prem, so I presume you're in agreement with that aswell?. We don't need 2 holding midfielders, not against lesser opposition anyway and there it is again, this whole goalscoring thing, big nev didn't score many, was he awful? You don't have to score to be good. #mysticdegsy
