Hello eds, can medicals be done before the transfer window opens.like with Del Boy and cleverly?.would they of had there medical?. Thanks)

{Ed001's Note - they can be done yes, I don't know if either of those 2 have done so yet, I will try and find out now if they have done so. Last I heard the deals were done subject to registration details and work permits etc. Never thought to ask about medicals. Plus since then other teams have tried to gazump Everton on Cleverley (why????) so it has become a bit murky.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Is Cleverley defo coming then Ed, heard the Hammers where trying

{Ed001's Note - not defo mate, West Ham and Palace are both trying to step in. I have no idea what will happen with that, it will be up to him to decide if he wants to honour his agreement with Everton or take a different offer. From the way his signing has been received, it would not be a surprise if he did decide to go elsewhere though! If I was him, I would probably be having second thoughts knowing that the fans are seemingly against me joining. It can make a move very difficult if the fans are on your back. Somewhere like West Ham, where the fans seem keen on him, might suit him and allow him to rebuild his reputation.}

Cheers Ed, let's keep our fingers crossed he likes the Hammers more

{Ed001's Note - this is why West Ham think there is a chance. Would there be a single Everton fan who would see him as a good signing?}

''not defo mate,''

''Where there is hope, there is faith and where there is faith miracles happen''

Ed, I've been told the Villa fans were keen on him though?

{Ed001's Note - the Villa fans were not impressed at all until the last few games, so it was mixed really. Some think Sherwood could get the best from him, others just think he is not worth having. Sherwood would have liked to make the deal permanent though, but they could not compete with Everton and working with Martinez again, so dropped out.}

''working with Martinez again''

Yep , that's the flippin bug bear the most worrying aspect to all this imo,
and why the guy won't go elselwhere :(

I must be the only Everton fan who thinks Cleverly would be a good option. (i don't know his wages and signing on fee). I presume its a cheap option for us and he is a workhorse to take place of Barry. Might give McCarthy a freer role. My worst concerns is he is replacing McCarthy who might want to move.

I agree with you Smeggs. I have never watched him in detail. However, with all the uproar last season, I watched him in Villa's last half dozen games. He scored a couple. One was class. He also knitted the Villa midfield together quite well. He worked hard and rarely gave the ball away. He tackled well too. When you compare him with the form of Gareth Barry last season, Cleverly was ahead in my view. Barry was awesome the season before, but last season was terrible in my view. I can only see Cleverly keeping Barry out of the team. One thing is for sure. Barry cost a place in the Europa League based on his disciplinary record.
