Don't be fooled by our academy teams yes we produce some good players better than most but there is not a production line like were led to believe, when you look at stones and Barkley who are products from u21 I know stones was not ours but he spent 2 years with them but you look at there quality and then you saw what was there yesterday's u21 match its a massive gap in quality, holgate although got caught out for pen looks good and very composed like stones, but there are only a few that I think stand a chance holgate henan, we all thought we would be seeing Green but he left and that was a big investment, I wonder what made us thought he was not going to make it,

Agree0 Disagree2

Truebluemetz who said anything foolish about the academy teams? See my response to the posts down below to yours and Cowpats comments. I don't really have much more to say other than David Moyes signed Stones the January before Martinez came and Martinez used him repeatedly towards the end of that season so he spent a little along with a year in the U21's not 2. Everton still benefiting from the Moyes era 2 years after he left!

That's just one crop of players though who knows what's going on down the age groups there's no doubt we have the best youth policy in the premier league at the moment for me

I'm confused, of course we are benefiting from the Moyes era. I'm not having a go mate and I'm not even sure what it is you are saying tbh. Is this another one of those things where because Martinez didn't sell EVERY player from the first team down to the under 5s that were here during the Moyes era that Martinez is not allowed any credit?. If you are not still harping on about Moyes then apologies. I just don't know what it will take for Martinez to get a little bit of credit. 1st season? Nothing to do with Martinez's signings it was all Moyes' defence (why did we never do so well under Moyes?). 2nd season? All Martinez's fault, snuffed out the Moyes mentally in the Defenders. Stones? Moyes bought him so he should take full credit for how he has developed, Martinez did nothing, Moyes loosened the top, Martinez just got it off. Barkley? Was here under Moyes, Garbutt? Moyes got him, Naismith? Moyes. I'm not exactly Martinez's biggest fan nor am I having a go at anyone but hopefully someone who loved Moyes (for whatever reason) can explain why it seems anything bad under Martinez is Martinez and anything good is Moyes. Martinez certainly has developed Stones, Barkley and Garbutt, he's got the best out of Naisy. Again, NBTB, I'm not having a pop, just hoping for some answers from someone who is all against Martinez (again, not saying you are) and all for Moyes as Christ reborn (again, not saying you are). Both deserve credit when credit is due and both deserve stick when it's due, I just don't think Moyes should take credit for 99% of the good things Martinez has done and take no blame for other things like not getting our young players game time and halting their development.

O beautiful Swan I was wondering when you'd bite at me, can't believe it took this long! You have me confused now. Please quote me on my previous comments where I said anything negative about Martinez? The only remotely negative thing I said about him was that I'm not convinced with him and need at least this season to weigh up my mind on him. Far too quick to judge a lot of people are. I actually said a lot of positive things about Martinez and he's very good work with the younger kids. I even backed him as regards to the transfer market. I think he's dead right not to be buying players left right and centre. Everton haven't the money and I said before on my posts it seems Martinez has as good an approach as any by holding onto the players we have, younger players for the 'future' coming through and only spending when he is sure it will improve the team. Yesi did say keep the players we have and I actually do compliment Martinez on doing that. Why not? He's here 2 years and who has he sold? As I said only way Everton will compete at the top is by doing what I said. We haven't the money like Man city or Chelsea so enlighten me what other approach should be taken. Well after all that which I stated before when did I say negative things about Martinez? As for Moyes its a simple fact he was everything Everton needed. Although if he had to hold onto some of his players (which he kind of couldn't because they asked for a transfer) Everton might have done better. Simple fact I stated we are still benefiting from Moyes. Nothing to do with Martinez. Don't be reading any more than is between the lines Swan.

Swan, just out of curiosity were you around when Moyes took over 13 years ago?

20 Aug 2015 18:20:09
I didn't even bother reading all that mate, I'm not here to argue as I stated multiple times in my post, I am not biting at all I'm just asking questions to people who really love Moyes. I stated numerous times I was not talking about you, if you took offence well you shouldn't as I did nothing to offend you I was just asking questions in general, I would of been better starting a new thread but whatever. If you are purposely posting just to get a reaction out of me, it doesn't work anymore. I was not talking about you as I stated many times, I did not twist your words or put words in your mouth, I couldn't of done because I was not talking to you, it was a general few questions that I included your Username as a benchmark for anyone else who may answer but you clearly wanted me to react and have been waiting for me to do so which I didn't notice until you mentioned it, none of your posts have had any impact on me in the least mate as to be honest I haven't been reading the majority of them. I'm not here to argue, it was some general questions. Don't bother trying to start just to get a reaction.

Seriously Swan? You don't want to argue? Seems like you don't want to argue when your wrong. You didn't even read my response yet wrote twice as long a comment yourself up above. Why did you respond when you didn't even read my post? You never even answered my small post asking were you around when Moyes took over? Let me guess your not going to read this one either. None of your posts had impact on me either Swan. Your far too negative and think your always right. Always have plenty of information on different players and so on backed up by nothing. O by the way I only used your username as a benchmark for 'other' people I'm not having a crack at you. Or maybe I'm just looking for a reaction. Moyes 2002 what age were ya?

{Ed025's Note - look guys we have to stop this personal crap!, you and swan have different opinions and thats healthy, but you have to stop directing posts at each other instead of the whole forum, i consider myself fair and put up with quite a lot on here, but other eds are not so forgiving and will just delete posts like these which can if not tempered result in a ban...so come on fellas be civil..
