Well I was working late today so decided not to follow the deadline day circus but to wait until I got back to check it out. In truth Mori and Lennon was what I expected and I am happy with the better players we retained. Would have liked Yarmalenko but we are not the first club to fail to land him and will see what happens next window. Maybe he didn't totally fancy us as we're not CL. Maybe he's a bit of a home town type and will stay where he is. Maybe we didn't offer enough wages. Maybe we were offering to pay the fee over many years. He would have improved the quality of our squad. Whatever we move on.
I'm okay with Lennon. He wants to play for us. He did well enough when on loan. He's a Blue now he has my support.
I know little about Mori. You don't play for Argentina if you are a mug. He clearly wants to play for us. He has a left foot. Has a fair goal scoring record for a defender. He's young enough to get better. Whatever Vickery says us Evertonians will judge.
Think we have made an okay start this season. Still in League Cup for a change. We have a youthful looking squad who seem fitter than last year. It's up to Martinez now. He needs to work with what he has got and what he has got is pace and width which he needs to use. At some point he has to swallow his pride and use Barry sparingly. The Barry and McCarthy axis is not working. Do we really need two holding midfielders?
I think we have the players to play more of a positive high tempo game. Let's scrap the cautious approach get behind the team.

{Ed025's Note - great post that tedster..

Well said tester. Let's get behind the toffee men. Everton are in a decent place and financially sound. We spend within our means which makes sense. Look at Rangers fc as an example. Look what Mismanagement did to that club. As an Evertonian I think more plaudits should be given Kenwright on how he is running the club. Everton will do good this season and finally we will get some silverware. Come on you blues.

Kiev owner said reason the deal never came off is because we only got serious about it 5 days ago. our offer would have been acceptable earlier in the window but there was no way he could let his best chance of getting through the CL group stage leave without having time to replace him. If that's true we have only ourselves to blame.

In general, I feel we have, once again, been badley let down, but, I would take what Kiev have to say, with a very large pinch of salt.

Tedster and Khan I'll buy you a bevvy if I see you at the game. That's proper support. See the negatives but recognise the positives. 5 stars guys!
