At the start of the season, would most of us have realistically expected anything other than a win against Watford and would we have hoped (at best) for draws against Southampton, ManCity, Tottenham and Chelsea? That would have given us 7 points. Well, we've actually got 8 points and the only defeat was to ManCity who have looked a cut above every other team. In my humble opinion, it's been a good start and (apart from not getting a number-ten) the transfer window was pretty good, especially keeping Stones, getting players on extended contracts, bringing in some decent players, and adding some promising youngsters.
On top of that, we're playing a more effective, pacier, less tippy-tappy football that's more entertaining and exciting for the fans.
Now it's up to the team to carry on delivering performances and results.

Couldn't agree more, very happy with our start. As the usual slow starters I'm really happy with our start and the style of football we have been playing!. Watfords been the only disappointment but I think it's going to be one of those seasons with the so called smaller teams taking a lot of points from the so called bigger teams, like we did yesterday eh Jose ;-)

Fantastic start in my opinion, especially considering all the doom and gloom surrounding the club. As for the no 10, I firmly believe we need a little magician to in lock stubborn defences, however we have scored 8 league goals and are diamond Ross has scored 2 and made 4!!

Cowpat your posts do always make a lot of sense. Yesterday was brilliant and I hope there is plenty more of that sort of game and result to come.

I have 2 concerns provided Martinez doesn't change his tactics. One is injuries. At the transfer deadline people were saying take 7-8million for Naismith. I mentioned that I wouldn't take it and that we would be glad of him come injuries and suspensions. How true that came to be. No doubt people will slowly start slating Naismith if he doesn't keep up the performances.

Anyway back to one concern. Injuries, is it me or do Everton have the worst track record for injuries, especially hamstring. Surely there has to be a reason for this. I seen on a website that had all the premiership teams injury lists. Guess who had the most? Yep Everton with 8. Is it just to do with the players we have? Or that players are rushed back playing too quickly? An incompetent back room physiotherapy and doctor team?

I don't have all the answers but there has to be some reason Everton seem to be among the worst injury lists in the league. If Coleman is out for awhile right back is a concern. I know Stones can play there but I'd hate to take him away from centre back where he's doing so well.

The second concern is very minor and the injuries is the only thing I really like to see improving at Everton at the moment. The second thing is the fixtures in October. It's going to be tough. Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal. If we play like yesterday we could beat all 3. On our day we certainly could. After October I would expect Everton to pick up a lot of points and climb the table.

On this site I have praised Moyes and said I haven't made up my mind on Martinez yet. That is still the case. I'm not going to get carried away with yesterdays result its a long season but I have to hand one thing to Martinez. He has a very good exciting squad at the moment.

I am full of optimism and genuine excitement with what this squad could achieve. If they don't bring glory I think there's not that many more players needed to bring silverware.

As I said I'm not getting carried away and will make up my mind about Martinez at the end of the season. But one thing I think is for certain things is as exciting a squad as Everton have had in a long time.

Don't know why people would even consider slating Naisey he was one of our standout players last season, okay he isn't an out and out striker, but he is a very intelligent player who causes loads of problems to the opposition defense and scores some very important goals. What more can you ask for.

NBTB, I agree with you about Cowpat, always provides a good read. We do have lots of injuries and always have done, and is a bit strange. But, I think we the squad we have, which is actually quite big considering we have no European football and I think we are prepared for injuries.

My thoughts exactly sa90 but people do give out about him. Someone mentioned on here around the transfer deadline that some so called Everton supporters were putting him down on twitter and other social media sites.

Probably the same people who are mad for any player with a foreign name to sign for us. My above post referred to what I think these people will do as soon as Naismith has a mediocre game. Start talking about how he was signed on a free and bla, bla, bla. Always worked his socks off. If every player worked as hard we'd be a lot better off.
