The way he's portrayed as some sort of angel and Ronaldo the devil. He dives just as much as Ronaldo but it never gets mentioned, if he wasn't pumped full of drugs as a kid he would never have made it as a professional athlete, if he was given a god given talent, why didn't god give him the body to go with it. Doesn't pay tax is an obvious one, and how his success has been built around a team being built for him as the main man. Put him in Stoke or Las Palmas' team he would struggle. Put Ronaldo in either and he would still get 30+ goals a season easily. Just annoys me how he's supposed to be the ultimate role model when, he hasn't worked for his success, he has it given to him by great teams (and drugs) . Ronaldo worked very hard and, I'm not certain, but has Messi ever done anything for charity? I always see Ronaldo giving money and blood and doing all sorts. I just don't get why he is the perfect role model when Ronaldo is probably more of a worthwhile role model than anyone. Just really despise him.
{Ed007's Note - I think you're my new favourite poster, Swan mate, I feel exactly the same about Messi and I've had many an argument across all the sites about him. He should never have been allowed to play professional football it's as simple as that, Messi's a cheat.}

I have had 'rows' on Gooners page, re Messi V Ronaldo.
Have always said CR7 did the business in Prem and is now a superstar in LA Liga. He comes in for training an hour before anybody else and leaves an hour later than everybody.
Saw footage of players in tunnel before a match at WC. Ronaldo would shake hands with the little mascots and talk to them. Messi would just blank them.
As you said, Messi had teams built around him. Don't get me wrong, terrific player, but I would pick Ronaldo every day of the week and twice on a Sunday.

Utter rubbish!
{Ed001's Note - it is not rubbish, Messi is not the nice guy he is made out to be, even ignoring the tax evasion etc. He bullies players he does not like, such as Alexis Sanchez and verbally abuses them on the pitch and in training. He also gives grief to players that pass to them. Messi has a great image, but it is fake.}

Swan/Ed001/ed007, I'm on the same wavelength as you lads when it comes to to Messi/CR7 argument. Ronaldo is a better all round player imo, can't see Messi scoring 40 goals in our league. But I'm not sure about the drugs thing that two of you mentioned. They weren't in the same bracket as performance enhancing drugs, I have always been lead to believe, but more of treatment to help him grow. Or have I missed something?
{Ed001's Note - his treatment was only necessary to allow him to be a professional athlete, he could have lived a perfectly happy life without the growth hormones.}

I love the messi v Ronaldo debate, av also had the growth hormone discussion with Poeple and I come down on the side of if you look at the stats the % it increased physically isn't much, also to not assist someone in this day and age medically were possible seems a bit stupid, one thing I will say is Ronaldo gave me more to the charity this year than messi was trying to hide and put Ronaldo anywhere on the pitch bar goalkeeper he's the best in the world.
