So Roberto Martinez has said there is no decision to be made on the goalkeeper and he will continue using Tim Howard's "invaluable experience" that helps the young players. Is this some kind of sick joke? So what he's done there is the same thing he did after the Norwich game in the cup. He's basically telling Joel, I don't care how well you play, Tim is my best buddy and he's playing regardless of how bad he plays, suck it up and accept this. What a joke he is, he said yesterday he values experience over form, well, I don't, I want good players playing well to play. What's all this nonsense about experience? When does he use it? Because he still can't even do the basics for a goalkeeper and he's 36!. How does he help the young players (Stones, who hates him and Barkley etc) during games when he doesn't talk!, Joel speaks to everyone and actually commands his defence, whereas Tim just stands there. It's quite sad really, the thing that's going to cost RM his job AND the thing that's going to cost us the likes of Lukaku, Stones and Deulofeu AND cost us achieving anything is all because of his ridiculous loyalty towards a poor goalkeeper.

Unbelievable.

I know Swan, I totally agree Joel should be in goals and I've given out about Howard before. I haven't given him much stick but certainly gave out about him.

However I think you should lay off Howard for a bit Swan. For your own sake more than anything. Howard is long past his best, everyone agrees. Not everyone agrees that he should be getting abuse. Your not giving him vile abuse Swan but a lot of people on here don't appreciate how much you go on about him.

I'm not one of those people but I think for your own sake you should try to suck it up like the rest of us. Just have to realise we're stuck with him until the end of the season.

I do realise its doing the club as a whole harm. As you say he prob would contribute to some younger players leaving.

But what can we do? Not a thing. Just have to accept the teams Martinez picks and support them because after all that's our job.

We are called supporters for a reason. I'm not having a go at you Swan. Kinda trying to help you more than anything.

I feel your frustration and its hard to accept it. But what else can we do? Drive you mad otherwise.

I agree with Swan very much on this and what I think Swan is saying NBTB is that the long term ramifications of this decision playing Howard could be disastrous. We have seen what has happened to Aston Villa and this could very well happen to us as well. We are just as vulnerable going down as any other team if we lose our best players. We are Everton but we are not immune to relegation.

Not going to cost RM his job at all and that is the sickener. Look where we are now 11th, 11th last season and he comes out with the same statement every week, we are getting there and improving.

Aussie Toffee I wrote the exact same post as yours before. Word for word. Said the same things that we are vulnerable to go down. God I argued a lot about that before. I'm sure Ed can verify that.

I have given out about Howard and as far as I know and I'm pretty sure of this I was the first one to say on here that Howard could end up costing Martinez his job.

That was near 2 months ago. Guess I'm just getting sick of all this Howard talk. Nothing we can do. Just live with the fact that Martinez will keep playing him until the end of this season at least.

As I said I'd pick Robles every game. But I've accepted that Martinez is not going to do that.

If he can state that Howards experience is vital for a young back line, how come he cannot see how that same back line have no confidence in their GK.

12 Jan 2016 16:23:08
Hang on a second. This inexperienced back line happens to have our very experienced club captain in it. Is that not enough to be getting on with. Never mind the evergreen GB sitting in front of it. I mean come on, I could accept this argument if we looked vulnerable with Robles in goal. But we didn't, we looked better. Hellllooooo!

Look miles better Toffee ace. For some reason Martinez can't see it or refuses to acknowledge it.

Actually just a thought but isn't that 'inexperienced, young' back line everyone of them an International, and with Barry and other 'Internationals' in front of them. How come nobody has asked Martinez this.
