Good result tonight
I'm made up for Howard he's had a lot of stick lately some deserved but some rediculous don't get me wrong I think he is past his best and the time has come to replace him but although he has made some howlers he has took the blame for some very shoddy defending as well, we don't seem to have a defender on the books who can stop or deal with a cross from wide into the box.
Now reading on here it's Ozzy's turn for stick even before he has touched the ball!
He didn't pick the team someone else did give him the stick or better still wait until after the match to give out the stick, before and during the game let's do what we're supposed to do and get behind the team let's stop the sarcastic.

Agree2 Disagree1

Agree S1878 some people are not happy unless they're giving someone on the team stick. Doesn't really matter who it is as long as there's someone there someone will get plenty of stick. Scapegoat really.

Don't get confused with giving stick and fair comment. Howard had a good game last night and has been a good servant of the Club, but overall this season has not been in form and comments have reflected that. Roberto Martinez has a blind spot when it comes to defence and assessment of performance is there for all to see, as is his favouritism. Last night we had a good first half and defended well second half, lucky to get away with no penalty award. Not putting Mirralas on suggests to me that both Naismith and he are away. Overall a very good performance although not 'incredible', still 11th and if we are brutally honest, Roberto nice as he is, does not appear to have the ability to get his Teams any higher, to me he is a Championship Manager.

{Ed025's Note - i dont want to make excuses for him DM but this is a learning curve for bobby as well, the jump and weight of expectation from wigan to everton is massive, im not his biggest fan as you know but appreciate that rome was not built in a day, my problem is him picking his favourites and his ineptitude defensively as well as his set piece naiveity, but im prepared to give him a bit more time to see if him and the team can progress mate..

And actually that performance last night was more reminiscent of a Moyes Everton side than Martinez. More like that from the start of the season coupled with Martinez attacking style and we would be up in the top 4 consistently.

With Robertos insistence on playing Kone in preference to Mirrallas the question has to be asked why not play 4 4 2.

I agree with Ed. I started this season prepared to give Martinez till the end of the season to pass proper judgment.

I have given plenty of 'fair comments' as you call them duncansmum on Howard and Martinez.

To be honest its getting tiresome at this stage. I want what pretty much everyone wants on this site. Joel, Mirallas to start. Would like to see more of Lennon and Naismith also as apposed to Kone and Howard.

I was very annoyed when we lost all of those winnable games. There was enough there to suggest Martinez could of done better. But there was an element of bad luck. Like Ed I'm not making excuses for Martinez. Just trying to give an honest and fair view on how the season is going.

As Ed says Rome wasn't built in a day and who knows in 5 years from now we could be winning trophies with Martinez.

Personally and honestly I can't see it happening. But I'm sure the majority of supporters at Utd didn't foresee what was going to happen when Alex took the reins. Ferguson did struggle in the dawn period of his management at Utd.

I live in hope that will happen to us one day. I'm prepared to give Martinez till the end of the season to make my mind up fully.

The defence done very well last night against probably the best attacking team in the premiership. If we can keep them scoreless and let Stoke score 4 and Bournemouth score 3 against us something doesn't add up.

Hopefully its Martinez working on defence and they finally have figured out a way to defend as a team. If that happened consistently and the attack continues their form we would be top 5 at least.

Fingers crossed we sort out the defence on a consistent basis.

{Ed001's Note - thankfully I got to edit this post and not Ed025 or we would never have heard the end of it on our widget! Someone finally agrees with him, he wouldn't know how to cope.}

Ed001 its all about opinions you know. That's usually what Ed025 says! 😁.

{Ed001's Note - that's only because no one else usually has the same opinion as him!}

14 Jan 2016 12:26:51
I agree with him.

14 Jan 2016 10:17:23
I will agree with that Ed025. Maybe Roberto is a good coach (actually I have always said he is a good coach that needs a good Manager) on his own but as a Manager needs to be more ruthless or choosy in the specialist coaches he hires around him.

{Ed025's Note - thats fair comment DM..

14 Jan 2016 17:10:38
Defence was good last night and hopefully there's more of that to come. But up until last night you would think there was no defensive coach at the club at all.

14 Jan 2016 19:12:58
Actually I have had an epiphany, we have International players in defence and an International Goal Keeper that has been out of form and maybe just maybe it wasn't the defence that had no confidence in him but him having no confidence in his defence which led him to be indecisive. Coincidental that with Jags back in the centre Tim had a good game and the defence had a good game?

{Ed025's Note - now that has thrown a spanner in the works DM..im not buying it myself but its certainly one to ponder mate..
