People going on about our 13 million striker not playing. hello. when RM arrived I had numerous arguments with Swan and co about how bad it was that we had sold Anichebe for around 5.5 million then wasted it on Kone for 6 million. Kone 6 million and Niasse 13 million = 19 million. Salary and signing on for McGeady. and half a dozen midfielders who register about 2 goals a season between them. one scored yesterday. oh wasn't he 13 million too? RM should be working for the red side. they know how to waste millions like this. I won't mention Alcaraz because I was told he was a good signing too! I can tell you Walter Smith bought some duffers. as did Moyes. but both these managers worked for years balancing the books. They both made a million profit in their years at Goodison. RM is already about 70 million in the red! Those who kept telling me he is a breath of fresh air have gone quiet now. If this post upsets people. I am not sorry. I am angry!

Anichebe has 6 Premier League goals for West Brom. Alcaraz was free. Niasse has played an hour, not really his fault. McGeady ill concede.

He's signed Lukaku, 61 in 117. Developed Barkley, 12 this season (8 prem goals; 2 more than Anichebe while he's been at WBA) . Deulofeu, assists for fun. McCarthy, not the most technically gifted, is a workhorse. Besic, because he's Muhamed Besic. Eto'o scored a few.

Where did you pull "70 mill in the red" from? i'm not defending RM, I just don't get your point.

HugoEFC the 70m comes from what Martinez spent and hardly took in any. So I presume its net spend. Not sure bout figures but I'm fairly sure that's what Degsypulford means.

I have to agree with him on that point. Martinez had the luxury of a big budget compared to our previous 2 managers. That's what enabled him to combine a good squad which we have.

I was not happy to say the least when Martinez was appointed. I did go against my natural instincts and decided to give Martinez my full support hoping I would turn out wrong about him. I've never been so annoyed about being right. I really wanted Martinez to prove me wrong.

However I have to disagree in general with you Degsypulford about your thoughts on the players that Martinez signed. The only saving grace imho is that Martinez overall has made good signings. He had a few that didn't work out which is to be expected. But I th.

But he made some very good value signings. At the end of this season will Del boy, Lennon, Lukaku, McCarthy, Robles and Besic be worth any less than the amount paid for them?

I certainly don't think so. No doubt Alcaraz, McGeady and Kone were duds but not big money were spent on these and Niasse shouldn't be judged till next season imho.

So on that note for me Martinez signings on the whole were good. They would want to be as he had a big money pot to spend compared to other transfer windows.

It's the only positive about Martinez for me. Actually there is 2. Good attacking football and value signings overall.

Please Degsypulford don't start on about midfielders not scoring because after next season Barry will no doubt be gone. That leaves McCarthy and Besic as the only out and out defensive midfielders. Yes Cleverly and Barkley could also play there but they can also play elsewhere. Looks like Gibson will be gone in summer too so for those 2 defensive midfield positions we have just about enough cover with that.

70mil in the red? I think lukaka would recoup most of that on his own should he leave. so that comment is nonsense. I do agree he's brought in a few bad eggs but what manager hasn't. I think we're all angry and disappointed in how the last 2 seasons have gone. So much expectation yet we've still have underachieved. However I will be happy with a fa cup just not the league.

He sold vic 6m, Fellini 27m and jelavic 7m.

10 Apr 2016 23:23:08
You missed one kidda, Naismith. Was that £8m? That's roughly £40m taken in.

Roughly he has spent £90m since he took over including buys of 'ones for the future'

I maybe a bit off on the figures. That leaves a net spend of £50m. I shouldn't be too far off on that considering its over 3 years.

Well as far as I know no Everton manager ever had that much to spend in 3 seasons. In fact as far as I know no manager in the history of the club had a net spend anything near that.

11 Apr 2016 00:38:18
Sorry roughly £50m took in £90m spent so therefore roughly £40m net spend.

11 Apr 2016 13:51:26
And as it was mentioned above, if we sell Lukaku we will get well over the £40m net spend. I still don't understand what Degsy's problem is about midfielders who don't score. We have scored the 5th highest amount of goals in the league this season. Scoring goals is NOT our problem. Conceding goals is.
