fdb managed a team in a poor 2-3 team league,
emery 4 away wins out of 31 away games
need a proven premier manager
koeman, benitez or even avb.

Agree to an extent, Dazza, but a proven premier league manager doesn't guarantee success. In this case I take proven to mean successful. Morinhio was successful at Chelsea until he wasn't. Ranieri spent a long time being unsuccessful before being an unprecedented success at Leicester. Pulis is considered by some as a top PL manager, despite his teams playing in a way that sucks the fun out of football. Arguably, Roberto De Matteo is a successful PL manager, or certainly Champs league manager, but I don't see many wanting him. Isn't it actually more ambitious to go for someone like De Boer, Emery or Favre? How else are we, or any club going to find the next Pocchetino, Koeman etc. If outside gambles aren't chanced? All the current contenders are a big step up from Bobby brown shoes, in any case. If anything, this season has proved that every manager in the PL has to think very differently and evolve the style of football needed to compete next season.

Think emery won the important away games especially in basel. at least we are taking our time to get the best option.

Emery has something like over 50% win rate at his current club. Rested players for the domestic league in order to win the Europa. Paid off for the third time in a row! Anyone take a top 6 finish and a trophy 3 years in a row? I certainly would. Overall seems impressive to me but I have to admit I don't honestly know much about the man.
