Just when you thought things where looking up, everton do it again. the first news after we get a manager is Gibson signed an extension, my God that's really pushing the boat out. can't wait for next season to start now and it should attract some great players to the club. it shows are intentions for next year. I give up.

He's a good player Skylark. Just because he was plagued with injury this past few seasons doesn't mean that Everton have any less intentions.

Think your getting a bit carried away there. Could be a valuable player in the future.

Have we seen enough of him to say "He's a good player"? He's spent more time on the treatment table than on the pitch and it beggars belief that someone who is making decisions at the club thinks he has done enough to justify a 2yr contract extension.

Reading posts on most of our fan sites only serves to show how childish some of our fans tend to be. Maybe I'm just out of touch with this new 'I want it now' generation but come on people! I'm not Gibsons biggest fan by a mile but why spit your dummy out so bad Skylark? Granted, the man has been injured more than he has been fit but you do understand that we will be losing an awful lot of the first team squad who are out of contract? Maybe giving him another two years will help fill the squad with a bit of premier league experience.
We haven't got the manager over the line yet but you seem to think that this is showing our intentions? Honestly, some of our fans don't deserve what the new investor will deliver.

{Ed025's Note - i think the gibbo issue is different spud, besides spending most of the time in the treatment room he did leave the scene of a hit and run because he was drunk mate, not exactly setting a good example to the youngsters is he?

Doom n gloom merchants. have a day off will ya. always something to moan about. Gibson is a good player n yes is injury prone but I bet his contract extension reflects this. a lottle patience is required.

Mart.

Good player? NBTB maybe, maybe not but not exactly top 6 team player and the last player I would have thought we would be talking about.

09 Jun 2016 21:29:05
i totaly agree nbtb gibson when fit is a really good player.

09 Jun 2016 22:07:02
Like I said on my second post despicable act of drink driving and we give him two more years there are plenty of players we could buy better than him should have been sold I don't have a clue who's idea it was to extend his contract but if it's koeman it's a bad start.

09 Jun 2016 22:16:04
What's patience got to do with not wanting Gibson in the team it's not doom and gloom it's opinions and I don't rate or want him.

09 Jun 2016 23:01:45
Totally agree spudv and Smithm8. We could be damn glad of him yet. I know Ed025 he made a mistake with that. I'm sure no one knows that better than himself. For me its not big enough reason to let him go.

People have short memories. He came in Jan if mine serves me right. There was some crazy statistic that we didn't lose a game that he played in for 6 months. This was before he got injured.

Totally agree with spudv. Sick of people wanting instant success and wanting rid of players if they aren't world class straight away. No thought of the consequences financially. It's like disposal razors. If you don't need them throw them away.

Fair enough Skylark, that's your opinion. let's leave it at that, eh.

Every club needs that squad player who may play a handful of games at most throughout the season, who won't become that problem child because he ain't playing every week. He's our Alan Harper! You can't have 25 first team players in your squad as that would bring its own problems.

09 Jun 2016 22:49:55
agreed ed and I don't condone what he did whatsoever. As I said, I'm not his biggest fan either but it just seems to give the doom and gloom merchants something to moan about! The only surprise is that nobody seems to be blaming BK for this :)
Giving Gibson a new deal is hardly showing the intentions of what Moshiri wants to do with the club, I'm sure he will endeavour to bring in players of better quality but we will still need players with experience of both being at Everton and playing in this league. For me he will be no more than a squad player, not worth the adverse reactions I have seen already ed.

{Ed025's Note - the doom merchants will always moan spud, it seems that all clubs have them mate not just everton, darron was a curve ball i never seen coming but the decision has been made and thats it, there are great times on the horizon and we should all be very happy..
