Some of these headlines coming out of the media are laughable but at the same time unsettling for players and Clubs. 'Stones turns down Barcelona' being the most recent. Stones is under contract to Everton so (and any self respecting journalist knows this) is in no position to turn down anyone.

Funes Mori for Lazio? I know not many will agree with this but I think there is as much chance he will leave as Stones or Lukaku.

Overall I was very happy with his first season, especially when he chipped in with plenty of goals for a CB.

Some are calling for a CB to be signed. I can see where these people are coming from but if we keep FM, Jags and Stones I'd rather see other areas strengthened first. These 3 along with all the young CB we have is plenty of cover in that area imho. Those 3 established CB along with Galloway, Browning and Holgate is more than enough.

Coleman, Lukaku and Robles are basically unchallenged for their positions currently. Especially Coleman and Robles. I'd be for strengthening these positions and creating competition for these positions. Kone and Niasse don't really compete with Lukaku up front.

If Stones or Funes Mori then definitely yes a new CB otherwise I'd be happy with the cover we have there.

I'm not totally convinced with FM but I think with proper coaching he can improve. When on the ball at his feet near goal he can look nervous and probably found the pace of the premier league a bit fast. I believe this can be dealt with and if it is he would be a fantastic defender who will score goals also.

Could replacement for Jags when he retires over the next couple of years.

I think he had a very good season, pulled from South America and dumped straight in defensive duties in the premier league. Think the lad handled it well. This coming season it would be expected to see him improve. Let remember lots are blaming martinez for stones not improving, would the same principle not apply to Mori?

I think Galloway will become a good solid CB and good things are expected from Holgate, IMO I don't see Browning making it at Everton. If stones goes we will buy 1 or 2 CB and that will place browning too far down the pecking order, not convinced he's the answer to RB back up either.

We await the new management structure and July onwards before we see the future of Evertons defence.

Spot on NBTB. I can't believe people want to dip into our pot (£100m isn't limitless) to get a CB when we have 3 good ones, with Galloway, Browning or Pennington ready to come in, and Besic or Barry if we're desperate. I would argue that we can make do with Pennington, Browning and Stones as cover for Coleman if the money needs to be spent elsewhere. I would like to see a new gk, a left winger (preferably left footed) and a striker (or two depending what formation we are looking to play) .

Blue Tommy not convinced about them right back cover. Yes if we're stuck but Coleman is too comfortable then. He needs someone to keep him on his toes. Also if he gets injured I wouldn't like to depend on those you've mentioned for a period of time.

Left winger yes if its going but we have a pretty good left winger in Mirallas. People have kind of forgotten about him because Martinez hardly played him. Plus Lennon can play there also along with Cleverly and Kone if stuck. Even Niasse apparently can.

If there is one available for value totally agree sign him up. For me its goals, right back and striker. Anything else is a bonus imo.

I couldn't agree more with your perception on the supposedly £100m available. Rather spend it wisely because when its gone its gone and all teams have money to spend now.

Bestryne short answer is no Mori cannot be compared to Stones in terms of Martinez. Stones went backwards and instead of Martinez improving him he got worse. Mori came in on his first season and didn't look like certain aspects of his game improved towards the end of the season. A good signing yes but not coached well imo. Martinez made some very good signings imho but his coaching especially in defense was just diabolical imo.

NBTB sorry mate never once compared him to stones, totally different players as is plain to see, I said martinez was to blame for stones not improving, so the same could be applied to Mori (did not improve) .

Think you might have miss-read my post mate 😜.

I can understand the logic behind the RB position to be fair. Maybe we could get a decent back up on the cheap? I haven't forgotten about Mirallas, but I'm fed up of players being used out of position on left wing. There is no way Cleverly or Kone should play there, and for me Lennon is too one footed. I could accept Deulofeu as backup, but as he's in contention for RW I think we could at least get a promising back up LW if not top quality.

All good points worth thinking about though lads :)

Bestryne I did miss read your post but I think you misread mine also. I wasn't saying you were comparing Stones and Mori. I thought from your post that you were saying Mori done well under Martinez. Therefore comparing how Stones done bad and Mori done good. That it wasn't Martinez's fault.

Anyway I think we are in agreement. Took us a while but we got there there in the end.
