Formbyjules, I totally agree with what you said. It is exciting times and I do worry about Koeman.
Last 2 seasons we were badly managed hence the disappointing placings.
Everton's bar is already set at Europa league and previous manangers do get us there Moyse did and Martinez just missed out.
So getting us to Europa is exciting yes, but are we actually improving. If we finish 10th this season it's an improvement so are we going to be happy with that. Don't get me wrong though the Premiership is a tough tough league.

Genuine question what are people's expectations for this season and the couple after.

Agree0 Disagree1

I want us to go into every match with the intention of winning and to enter every competition with the intention of winning.
Intention is not the same as expectation. The former is a mindset of a being professional and a winner; the latter is often a mindset of believing we have a right to win rather than doing so by attitude, skill and hard work.
Of course, we all hope to do well - be that finishing in the European places or winning a cup - but that's just hope not expectation.
While accepting that we will sometimes be beaten by a better side on the day (or have bad luck in some matches) , I don't want anyone using the defeatist excuse of "bringing a knife to a gunfight". The least that any player can do is give their all on the field and work their socks off - irrespective of the technical quality of the players.
At end of the season, we can assess what we've done and comment on whether or not we reckon it's acceptable.
By the way, I back my hopes every season by putting a modest wager (each way) on Everton to win each first-team competition they're in. The mid-80s were very rewarding, but there have obviously been precious little winnings since ;-)

I think I will be heading into the new season with no expectations as it's about getting the team playing to Rons tune. Don't get me wrong I won't be happy with a repeat of the last couple of seasons but I believe the high expectations put pressure on the players and fuel the boo boys. How about we just embrace the change and see how we get on before setting the bar.

Expectations top 6. It will take a couple of years and a lot more investment and time to break into the top 4. Utd, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spuds and yes the RS, for us to break into that lot will take some doing. I will tell you what though in a poor season that Leicester came to the fore Koeman would not have done a Martinez if he had been our Manager.

With the current squad i'd expect top 8 at least. Depending who we sign possibly top 6. We have to aim for europe as a minimum every year tho. who knows where we will be in 3 years time but the eventual goal has to be regular cl and the prem title. But that's a long long way off at the moment.

I think this season has proved that the top 4 are no longer going to be the same guaranteed clubs anymore and at last it is more acheiveable for other clubs not saying it will be easy or even likely but in seasons past you could pretty much say who the top 4 were going to be before the season started.

Top 4 for me Imo we are not that far away from it and should of been up there last season I would also say Liverpool are in the same boat as us so wouldn't put them in the same bracket as spurs chelsea utd city or arsenal they finished in the same league position that they where when Brenda was manager yet listening to ex players and a lot of fans you would think they finished 5th and just missed out on champions league which wasn't the case so don't understand why everyone thinks it's acceptable to say they will challenge for the title yet all we can hope for is top 8.
