Hi Ed shame for S. Coleman today hope he's still with us next year because I rate him very highly what do you think.

{Ed025's Note - im not so sure you know AB, 2 years ago i was touting him as the best full back in europe but since then he seems to have gone downhill, i dont know whether it was the united rumours or other factors but he does not seem to be the same hungry young man who i seen then and greatly admired, it may be me though mate as i have an inflated opinion of all our players..

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ed your right he had a quiet season for us last year but still what a quality fullback makes my team anyday.

{Ed025's Note - i know what you mean AB but im very critical of players who i think are not giving 100% mate, i would love to be proved wrong though..

he had no competion so he was compliance think we need right back.

I hear you Ed but I think its not in his nature to give anything less than 100%. Great player and seems down to earth to me. Never says anything that he shouldn't to the media even when he was heavily linked with a move away.

Always respected Everton and never said anything wrong. Seemed grateful to Everton from what I've seen anyway. Developed well under Moyes and first season under Martinez. We all know defense wasn't Martinez strong point. Towards the end of last season he Coleman didn't look enthusiastic in an Everton shirt but hey, who did?

Top player and top professional imho.

{Ed025's Note - you may be right about the martinez factor NBTB, he seems to have stopped being the rampaging footballer he was 2 seasons ago where he would take on defenders and deliver quality crosses, he has become very safe in his approach and tends to play the ball sideways or back most of the time, lets hope ronnie can get the best out of him mate..

I think he looks short of confidence and that showed in the game against France, how often did he run at their defence and seemed to want to pass it on at the earliest opportunity, maybe the lad need a beak and a chance to recharge the batteries before the season starts.
However it is important to sign some healthy competition for the RB position.

IMO RMs tactics had a big on both him and Baines plus look what he had in front of him. Both flanks under DM attacked a fair amount with overlapping fullbacks this seem to disappear once RM took over. Seamus looks happiest going forward not tippy tapping around half way to me it seemed as though his natural game looked stifled and he suffered as a consequence. let's see what happens when RK employs his tactics which IMO will suit both fullbacks better.

Sa90 has it spot on. Under Moyes, Pienaar and Osman had no pace but were regular 1st team. We would defend deep then counter very quickly by Pienaar and Osman joining up with the forward (s) . however, rather than always running or passing square or backwards as under Martinez, it was the fullbacks job to rampage down the wings with Osman and Pienaar holding the ball up until the full backs were more like a forward winger. Both Osman and Pienaar became quite profficient at holding the ball up and when Martinez took over, they had to change their game plan completely. This is why some fans got on their backs. The new system did not suit what they had been doing for 4 or 5 seasons. Osman was often caught in posession and fans turned on him. Pienaar too to a degree. Yet I think it was one of the Europa League away where Martinez played Osman in the holding midfield position and we had one of our best performances in the whole of Martinez's time at the club. I expected to see Osman play there again, but he never did. In that game he was responsible for 2 or 3 interceptions and passes out of defence that resulted in goals. I think they call them assists these days. It is a shame because he is even slower now and probably at best a Championship player.

Wakka (and others) , I think your spot on, Coleman needs competition to push him for the starting role or atleast give him something to worry about. I don't think Hibbo is that player even if we did sign an extension with him he wouldn't push Coleman enough to pressure him.

What do you guys think of Thomas Meunière, the Belgian RB? Reports linking him with Napoli, Lazzio, Sassulo and Middlseborough so I'm unsure if he'd like to play second fiddle.

I'm a big fan of letting the youth players come into the squad and Kenny said he'd like a crack at the first team. Do we go for a new player or bring youth through considering we have Browning, Kenny and Pennington (not to mention Holgate) who can play RB.

Not that we need LB's but any news on Jordan Luakaku's transfer movement?
