I agree would love him at everton he is a team player an a leader would be great signing.

02 Jul 2016 18:32:21
He is 31, probably not what we need now!

02 Jul 2016 18:49:19
I beg to differ sidutton. Not getting fixated on Williams but with Jags going in the next season or two the rest of our CB's are 26 with Funes Mori and all the rest are 22 or younger!

Think we need an experienced CB to replace Jags for balance. Like a 28 year old or older to have the experience there.

Agreed NBTB, he might be 31 but his age shouldn't count against him. I'm not saying we should buy him but it wouldn't be the worst signing, he brings a wealth of premier league experience and, imo doesn't look out of place at this level. He's also been solid and dependable for Wales in the euro's so far. We get too hung up on the age of a player, they are fitter than ever in today's game, but as long as they can do a job for us then I'm happy. Barry, by and large, has been good for us and he was no spring chicken when he signed. I bet there wouldn't be too many moans if we had managed to sign Zlatan!

The only problem with him is he doing so well in Euros so might not be an option. I do agree with you though his age don't matter remember Richard gough was about 37/ 38 for us still was able to do a great job for us.

02 jul 2016 21:00:23
not botherd if he was 21 still woudint want him not good enough for us don't rate him. no. one talked about him before he scored against belgium now people are touting him for us give over will ye.

He was linked with Everton plenty of of times this last year royalpaul. Its nothing new.

03 Jul 2016 03:01:38
Give over yourself royalpaul. williams is a consistant hard working defender. he would be a fantastic signing i believe. he's a typical british, get your head or boot in centre half. and tbf he was been watched by the likes of arsenal and that. ball playing centre halves are fine but you need a traditional norman ' bite yer legs' hunter type centre half. defends corners and most importantly his goal.

03 Jul 2016 06:38:53
I posted a couple days back questioning the same thing, I really think he's a good players and can really solidify our defence. For those of your worrying about the age I believe Scott Dann is a good player and only around 26-28.

Williams, Ramsey and Hennessy would all be good buys from the Welsh squad. They all know what putting in a full shift means.

03 Jul 2016 11:50:58
Paul, this has been brought up dozens of times on this site so wobble your own head mate

Keenone, no chance Ramsey but would live him here mate.

03 Jul 2016 16:50:42
the fact that its been brought up on this site does not mean i am not entitled to my opinion.

03 Jul 2016 22:23:24
No one said you weren't entitled to your opinion royalpaul. You are entitled to it as much as anyone on here.

Your post makes out that its only since he scored the goal that he's been linked with Everton and people are only talking about him now. This is untrue, he's being talked about plenty before. Also been talked about coming to Everton for some time now.

Distin was what age after coming to Everton? Imho he was a very good signing and didn't get the recognition that he should of got. No one thought he was going to be as good a signing as he turned out to be. A top professional who done more than his bit for Everton.

Fair enough, you don't rate Williams. As you say, your entitled to your opinion. As is everyone. I rate him. Not only because he has played well in the Euro's so far but because he gives 100% commitment just like Distin.

Your wrong that no one talked about him before the euro's and now everyone is talking about him. Its only natural that people are going to talk about Wales and the amazing achievement if getting to the semi's. Doesn't mean Williams was a non-existent player before the euro's. Just shows he didn't get any recognition.

Imho he deserves every bit he gets. Every Wales player does. As every Leicester player does. Passionate team players. Any football club could learn plenty from both teams imho.
