Definitely not going to rule him out until we see him first hand, but I've done what I always do when we sign a player which is ask the fans of his old team their opinion, and I've got to say the feedback about Valencia hasn't been good.

He's not the only person I've heard from, but a direct quote from a guy on the West Ham rumours is:

"The guy has all the attributes to be a good player, but he has been awful. everytime he has the ball its lost, from controlling the ball or stumbling who knows. whether he is low on confidence or its something else. every west ham fan could not wait for him to go. we could not understand why he is still getting picked to play. you never know a fresh start could do him good. but me for one so happy I don't have to watch him lose the ball anymore. "

As I said, I'm not going to rule him out and perhaps a change of scenery and management is what he needs, but I would say he's certainly not the caliber of player I was hoping for.

Same said for Gana, Hardy and Mahrez. All recruited by who? O yea, our director of football! Think the people at Everton are the right people making them type of decisions. Not me or you Ander Barkley. I'm all for people having their own opinions and expressing them but have some faith in our club. Just a little even would be good.

{Ed025's Note - some of our posters think its fifa 16 NBTB, the real world knows how hard it is to secure any player of quality, all you can do is offer the best deals you can and hope they are willing to come which i believe we did, the lure of london and CL football will always come first im afraid mate..

That's not true. I spoke to Villa fans after we signed Gana and every one said he was quality, I spoke to Leicester fans when they where promoted and while obviously no one foresaw just how good they would be, They all knew they where both good players. This is a player who's own fans say he is terrible.

I've said this before, these people in charge may well be there for a reason, but this perception that everything they do must be 100% the best decision is absurd. You're forgetting that someone who was deemed the right man for the job said we should buy Niasse, Kone, McGeady, Bilyaletdinov and Kroldrup.

Ander I'm not getting into an argument over who's a good player and who's not. The point is them players were way undervalued and way underrated at the time they were signed. In hindsight we all know they are top class. Walsh knew that before anyone. Hence why he got them so cheap.

Never said he is right 100% of the time. He certainly knows more about what players to recruit than anyone I know. That's the point. He's the man with the experience and know how. That's all I'm saying. I have every faith in him.

If you don't fair enough. Hate when people write a player off before he has even kicked a ball for us. I'm more inclined to reserve judgement until the chap gets a proper chance. In my books that's the least a player should get.

If he turns out to be sh*te I still don't agree with the abuse some players get. At least its excusable when he's given a chance rather than barely being a new player for 24 hours.

OK Ander your last paragraph says you won't write him off. That's what I like to hear. You also say he's not the calibre of player you expected.

That takes me back to the same point of giving him a chance and the signings Walsh made of Vardy, Mahrez, Kante and Gueye. They weren't considered a high 'calbre'. Look how they turned out. The players have to start somewhere and Vardy shows it can happen at anytime in a players career.

Not having a go Ander just banter really.
