What a second half but "what a manager"! I love Barkley but he was pants in that 2st half. Just like subbing McCarthy in the 1st half he's done the same and changed the game.

Rom's hug for Koeman was interesting and we may see more commitment from him now but I couldn't be happier. Also this Gana guy's not too shabby.

I've just put another humble pie in the oven for Degsy as well😁.

{Ed025's Note - gana is good even when we are poor john, quality player mate..

Totally agree BlueJohnUns.

No humble pie for me on this one. The manager made 4 excellent signings that contributed to last night's result. All 4 players have been instrumental in our success to date and he seems happy tomake decisions to effect games. Yes we have turned a corner I feel. But I will eat some humble pie if it makes you happy?

Gueye was brilliant again last night and looks an absolute steal at £7m look at his stats last night for attempted passes and pass completion and he was 1st! That from a defensive midfielder apparently. Not long now before the press start selling him for us as they always do when we have a player performing well.

Degsy you said we were going to struggle AFTER we signed those players. Can you not admit when your wrong?

We are far from struggling at the moment. Manager can make a massive difference. Winning if the game last night was taking Barkley off. Even though I view him as a top player. Last nights game and the game McCarthy was took off were down to Koeman really.

Koeman was my man of the match last night. The players done well in that second half but I honestly can't remember a manager subbing players immediately when recognising a problem whether it be 1st or second half.

we all know Moyes made his subs usually in the last 20 minutes by bringing on defensive players and Bobby was the opposite.

Koeman as he said last night, knows his players and what they can do or should be doing and is decisive in making those substitutions.

I don't think I did say we would struggle after the signings, but if it makes you happy, I will eat the humble pie. I thinkI said we would struggle up until Bolasie and Williams were signed. but I might be wrong. I am alsonot getting carried away yet as although thae signs are a million times better than under Martinez, we as yet have only played poor teams (Spurs excepted) . Yes it looks loads better and yes I believe we have turned a corner, but I also believe we need 3 or 4 new players for when suspensions and injuries kick in.

A Degsy you were very pessimistic to put it mildly. Our new manager didn't seem to comfort you when I and others were trying to reassure you things will improve.

I agree it is very much early days and our opposition isn't top notch. Still the signs are positive. I also agree we need more players to compete at the very top. That will never change I suspect. Players will continue to revolve during the transfer windows. Even if Koeman gets the players he wants that he said will take 2 years to assemble.

At the moment the squad is pretty decent imho. Koeman will get the best out of them and no doubt build on the current squad come the next couple of transfer windows. There is at least 5 players who will go and look like having no chance under Koeman, McGeady and Niasse for example.

As well as buying players in there is decent players coming through the youths who may make it also.

Agreed mate. But I did say the signings were a good start. Yes I was very pessimistic up until Williams and Bolasi signed although I was worried we ay lose Stones and Lukaku. I still think Stones is a world class player and will be England captain soon for many years. Man City will play super football and be the Barcalona of England. We will have to be at our very very best to get near them. But I am definately a lot happier with Koeman and his determination to get us there. It will be interesting to see how we get on against other top 4 sides other than Spurs. Especially away. It willalso be interesting to see how we get on when the things are going against us rather than for us. eg Baines' penalty going in off the keeper. Can we fight back from going a goal down away to a top club? Lots of questions will be answered over the next few months but yes I am a lot happier now mate. and the most important thing is we are going in the right direction again.
