We can all agree that Ross Barkley has been inconsistent for a couple of seasons now, and been in poor form so far this season. But calls that he's "another Rodwell" are premature. It seems that the microwave generation (as NBTB described them) are in full effect on this site at the moment. Turning on your player after 1 defeat this season? Sounds like the behaviour one would expect from that shower across the park.

I can't believe the hate he gets at the match. He's this generation's Leon Osman. I wouldn't be surprised if someone flew a banner over Dean Court with "Barkley Out" on it. I love an underdog, and at the moment Ross Barkley is just that. I can't wait for him to come good. I just hope that he doesn't have to leave here because of the boo boys and do that somewhere else.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think he is being turned on for the sake of it tommy and booing any player is a disgrace, im sure its out of concern that ross is not exactly flavour of the month presently, its not just one game he has been poor mate and in his present mood is a liability im afraid, his confidence is shot i know but its only him who can get himself out of this rut, i would love the guy to come good and stick 2 fingers up to the doubters but at the moment it does not look very likely..

It's just frustrating Ed, I feel like he needs our support and at the match he isn't being given it. Some players are allowed to make loads of mistakes and some get jumped on after their first mistake, and currently, Ross is in that position. I'm not necessarily having a go at all of the people on here, it's a lot of people at the game too. I feel like the Martinez era has left fans thinking that it's okay to boo your own team if they are underperforming and it's not on.

{Ed025's Note - i agree its not on tommy and especially at the game, thats what these forums are for which is to discuss things and bandy idea,s about, but on match day it has to be unequivocal support for all the players who don that famous shirt mate..

Awesome post BlueTommy. I agree 100% about the Leon Osman analogy too! It would seem that some of our fans are the microwave bunch. Expecting another Rooney everytime a youth player makes it into the first team. I said in my other post below. people are making no allowances for: his age, his injuries and the fact Martinez raised expectations on him. Even Ed025 quotes him as being a "man".
But I would counter bay saying. does anyone doubt his ability. the natural stuff that certain players have? The answer is obviously no. so then I would say. wel what other factors can come into is? And the answer is: fitness, well being and psychological influences. Well I think everyone else agrees that he looks pretty fit and relatively healthy. so it must be a psychological problem making him inconsistent. Back to my very original point on this. in footballing terms he is still a kid who has had to much expectation and responsibility put on him. with no or little guideance from Martinez. I expect Mr Koeman to now handle him in a way Mr Moyes would have. ie when he plays bad, he will be subbed and probably rested occasionally. Theey will work on his positional sense and spacial awareness and in 2 seasons we will have one hell of a player. in the meantime we will have a very gifted player who sometimes reaches high levels and at others does not. He is 2 years behind in his development for goodness sake. that makes him 20 in football terms. only Rooney has come through at that age and managed to command a first team spot with regularity. Rant over!

I have been one of the biggest Ross backers on here, I went the game Tuesday, the fans at first were clapping Ross, encouraging him, I have to say however as shockers goes, he stank Goodison out on Tuesday, every time he got the ball he played it straight back to the same player sometimes to me to you to me, all within about 2 feet of each other, had a couple of instances where he was in a shooting position, but refused to shoot, he needs to cut out the short passes back and two, put his foot through the ball when a chance comes, he was not alone Del Boy was the same.

{Ed025's Note - hes not having the best of times at the moment baz, but we have to hope ronnie gets the best out of him because as attacking midfielders go hes all we have at the moment mate..
