We have a squad of 25 (the maximum) aged-over-21 players currently registered for the Premier League. They are: Baines, Barkley, Barry, Besic, Bolasie, Browning, Cleverley, Coleman, Deulofeu, Funes Mori, Gana, Gibson, Jagielka, Kone, Lennon, Lukaku, McCarthy, Mirallas, Niasse, Oviedo, Pennington, Robles, Stekelenburg, Valencia (on loan) , and Williams A.
We also have 2 aged-over-21 players out on loan (Garbutt and McGeady) and 2 others (McAleny and Rodriguez) still at the club, but out of the registered squad.
Then there are 6 players (Byrne, Duffus C., Grant, Gray, Jones G., and Tarashaj) who'll be classified as aged-over-21 when the squad has to be re-registered at the end of next Summer's transfer window.
By my reckoning, that's 35 players - not including any incoming signings (which are certainly needed! ) - so a fair number of the current personnel will have to be moved out to get the squad down to the allowed 25. Add in that some of our aged-under-21 players (Davies, etc. ) will hopefully get more matches and some older players won't get as much and may need to move on to get time on the pitch.
The question imho is: who of those 35 aged-over-21 players would you NOT want to have left the club permanently by next Summer?

Barkley, Bolasie, Browning, Coleman, Deulofeu, Gana, Lukaku, McCarthy, Pennington, Robles, Williams, as for the other 6 keep all. If we are truly going to have a sort out then let's do it. Would mean that we would have to bring in some quality replacements though, so Moshi would have to spend the cash.

Id keep besic aswell. If he can stay fit i think he would thrive under rk. Baines can still do a job but he does need a replacement whether he'd be happy playing as a back up option is another thing tho.

For me - and I know it's a cliche - players (and managers and coaches) come and go, so I wouldn't be overly upset if any of those 35 players left the club - as long as their replacements (either incoming transfers or promotions from the U23s/ U18s) do a better job. However, I would be surprised if RK wants anyone to leave unless they clearly aren't rated by him. Plus we have the finances to resist bids for our best players these days, but if a player presses for a move then it'll usually happen. I don't think it's overly dramatic to say that many in our squad are now playing for their futures at Everton.

I wouldn't keep Delofeu he offers absolutely nothing in my opinion. Baines would be included also and Fumes I think is still young enough to improve but hasn't been really given a chance under RK yet.

Interesting post that Cowpat. For those who have been posting on here for a while. they will remember my posts of 3 years ago which basically slated Martinez. I pointed out that he had inherited an ageing squad and had done nothing to improve it other than signing inferior yet older players and in fact he was creating a future problem. Players like Anichibe were being sold yet replaced by Kone. Distin replaced by Alcaraz. Barry brought in. I know some people did not like Moyes for what he did and said, but he reduced the average age of the squad. Well now we are looking at the problem square on. Martinez did bring in some younger players. Deulofeu, Besic and a few others, but these are not first team players on a weekly basis and in my opinion are just not good enough. Koeman has bought himself a little time with his signings, but the squad is still ageing and I see some bright kids coming through. I believe that the next couple of transfer windows are so important to our once great club. We have the FFP rules to follow so we are somewhat restricted. this is were Steve Walsh has got to earn his dosh. we need quality signings at little expense. and quite a few of them. I suspect we will have a bumpy next few seasons!

Why keep players who clearly have injury issues. I know all players have injuries but we have some who can't put two games together.

Agreed.
