Under DM, we were mostly steady top 6 or 8, and the players knew their jobs, but we were uninspiring and failed in the big matches.
RM tried to change the way those same players - plus a few additions - played, but, after an exciting first season, it ended in tears after a poor 2nd and 3rd seasons.
RK - using most of these same players plus his own few additions - had tried to introduce his own pressing style, but it's not working so far.
Surely it's clear that the majority our current squad just isn't up to what RK is demanding of them? He really will need a couple of years -, and substatnt8l, investment - to get the squad that can play how he wants. Are we fans patient enough to give him that time?

{Ed025's Note - we will have to be sid..

We should have got the squad we wanted at the start of the season not half way through if like they said the money is no object. Some of our midfield wouldn't got into the Swansea team it's time for big changes.

I agree that our squad has problems and that the performances lately have been similar to stuff my dog leaves on the front lawn every morning but I also feel like fans need some perspective.

Firstly it seems like the players we were interested signing in the sunmer either weren't interested in us or their clubs were not looking to sell.

Secondly, as Sid says in an earlier post, our spending is limited by certain restrictions so we can't just go out and buy a new squad in one transfer window (which also never works because you end up with mercenaries rather than a team) .

Thirdly, many of our (former) key players are aging and weren't replaced by players of similar quality during the RM years (see Oviedo for Baines, Gerry/ Lennon for Pienaar etc. ) Now that these replacements are being asked to step up we are seeing that they fall short while the players they are supposed to be replacing have also dropped off.

Moral of the story in my eyes anyway is that these problems are not going to be fixed in a week/ month/ season. These are long term problems and will take more than the few months that FM/ SW/ RK have been on the job to be fixed.

I am disappointed we didn't beat Swansea yesterday like the majority of us, I've read a few pokes at RK and the team in general but I truly believe we are subtlety turning the corner, let me ask you this, how many games this season have we got points from losing positions, be it a win or a draw. When last season we'd have just lost. Quite a few already! . certainly headed in the right direction.

I said it a couple of weeks ago that the job RK has is bigger than we may all have thought.
Its clear certain players are just not good enough to take us further forward, however a couple will most likely be retained as squad cover.
We are not scoring or defending well at the moment, just how many pens Jags is giving away is beyond me, and when Lukaku is not scoring we look blunt and somewhat desperate at times.
It's a big job and January is not the best time to recruit but I feel we need at least three in.
