Under Moyes, it was never a case of the team not playing for the manager.
Under Martinez, it was well into his third season before it became clear that the team wasn't playing for him (although he'd clearly alienated some individual players before then) .
Under Koeman, there are already rumblings that the team aren't playing for him. Well, the performances (especially first half) aren't good, but there's surely no way he's lost the players so quickly.
Thoughts anyone?

Liverpool fan here mate

You need quality players in the next two windows and things could change. You have nothing upfront than Lukaku. Your midfield is poor and lacks any sort of creativity and your backline cannot cope up against pace and flair.
You need players!

{Ed025's Note - i cant say that i usually agree with liverpool fans chin but your dead right, that tonight was just not good enough by anyones standards, and it does not help that your lot are knocking it out of the park mate.. :)

Lol Ed025 thanks for the compliment.
You need at lest two quality CF which you don't have atm. I am not a fan of Lukaku ( he has a terrible first touch and is not an RK player at all )
Midfield is poor, there exist no creativity. You don't have midfielder who could pass the ball into spaces.
Your backline is weak. Any striker with half decent pace will drag Jags down to loo.

Southampton is not an explosive team after all but they made you look terrible.

No offense guys. 😎.

{Ed025's Note - thanks for stating the bleedin obvious chin.. :)

I have been saying the same. but at the start of this season thought Koeman had got a system that suited us. However, the last number of games he has had us playing like the last 3 seasons with such a slow build up. I have also come to the conclusion that Lukaku is a great finisher if given the opportunity. However, his link up play is dreadful and it takes him losing the ball 15 times before he has a moment of brilliance. If he comes up agains a center half with a bit of pace and strength, he is out of the game. I have said the creativity was lost when Pienaar and Osman retired. The other creative player we have is Mirrallas. But he has not had a look in since Moyes left. Barkley keeps making the wrong decisions and slows play up when we have the pace of Lennon and Bolasie to use. I am not over reacting when I say we look disjointed and void of any team structure. We need a few wins and our fixtures over the next month are difficult to say the least. Some serious questions need asking in the dressing room and as for Koeman's pre match statement that we were going to press because it was so important could not have been further from the truth. We kicked off, played 3 simple passes and lost possession on the 3rd. We then stood off them and allowed them in behind us. If that is pressing, I don't know what to say. We need a reaction over the next month, but I don't know if we are capable. Gloom!

I think Barkley slows the play up because the 3 men in front of him, Lukaku, Bolasie and whoever it is this week very rarely move, so when he looks up there is no one to pass to so he has to dwell on the ball, and then he gets closed down.
The ball is rarely played into space because if the ball doesn't go to Rom's feet he isn't going to move for it.
I have never known a team to be so poor off the ball.
Barry and Gana move but that is usually in our own half but when we get to the final third our attacking players just stop.
