Mike dean has given more penalties this calender year than clattenburg and moss put together. My money is firmly on one being awarded tomorrow.
The last game of ours he officiated was against Wigan and sent Duncan Ferguson off.

I have my tail up with referees and corruption and biased from F.A to field and the decision to allow a man from the Wirral to officiate a derby will leave them wide open to criticism if a game changing call is made.

This remember is the same man who had the 2006 cup final taken from him because Liverpool were involved, so what's changed?

Agree0 Disagree0

Not his biggest fan tbh but I believe he is down as a Tranmere fan. I can see why the final was taken off him as the Wirral is too close when you're playing a team from the capital.
My biggest concern in regards to the ref is that he is a touch card happy, not the best attribute you want a ref to have in a derby game. Think he sent off 9 players last season, the highest tally in comparison to the other refs, and has shown red 3 times this season, joined by one other. Hope he doesn't show a yellow in the opening stages as it will stifle the game.
Anyone know if it is a rumour started on social media that his kids are red season ticket holders? Not sure if that would really mean anything even if it was true.

Think its social media rumours spud as its down that his son has a season ticket at anfield but then another poster states he has 2 daughters.
With the appointment of Dean as the official it would be best to stick with Barry on the bench.

Cheers for clarifying BG, I thought it would have originated on twitter or the likes. I think you may be right on keeping Barry on the bench. I think it may be better to play Holgate than Mori, the latter can be rash in the tackle at times, his tackle in a previous derby proves as much. We don't want to be down to ten men against that lot.

Think Holgate is a good shout especially with the pace and movement of their front 3.

I'd feel better with him in rather than Mori for this game. MH's composure would edge it, Mori gets involved in the occasion and gets too hyped. Not that bad an attribute to have but, taking into account the ref for the game, I'd rather have the safer option.

Totally agree spuds. Koeman must be 1 very frustrated man, we need 3 or 4 new players in January to shake it up going forward, we didn't have 1 shot on target in that 2nd half which is pathetic.
