Is this window a missed opportunity?
I feel maybe were missing the one chance we have of spending big, maybe over the odds to get quality players in as the Big Guns aren't buying this window. Come the Summer window we will be battling with the Big Guns and more than likely no Europe as a carrott either. So in effect the Summer window is going to be harder to attract quality, that we need. Just my thoughts. happy to listen to other views to change my mind.

{Ed002's Note - Everton spent big - Schneiderlin and Lookman. Your expectations are I assume based on the £200M per window or whatever all of the fans are convinced Moshiri said in the summer - you need to get real.}

Agree0 Disagree2

Its not my expectations but the Clubs too, as we all heard in the GM. All i'm saying is the targets we have and RK has alluded to them will be harder to get in the Summer due to competition and that we won't be in Europe. Wasnt expecting a naggy reply like "i need to get real"! bit harsh that.

Over 30m we have spent. Honestly I don't get some people. Everyone, from managers to pundits to owners comment on how hard it is to buy quality in January. Although throwing money about makes it easier, it's still h difficult. Plus, over paying for players does more than lowing our bank balance, it adds pressure on the player, the manager and the club. Plus teams will begin to learn that we are happy over paying and start to hold us to ransom

I believe that we have done really well in the window which is a difficult time to recruit. We have got two first team squad players in and got a few of the players who are not needed transferred to other teams. Their is absolutely no need to recruit players who are no better than the ones we already have, we need to take our time over the next few windows and only get in those players who will improve us and at the same time continue to sell those players who are surplus to requirements. The fact that we have several of the kids making a big impact on the first team adds to the mix. Can you imagine what we would have had to pay for Davies or Holgate if they had played for other teams and we had bought them in this window!

31 Jan 2017 16:41:59
If you consider the top six big guns and they all bought 2 players that's 12 players, I'm sure there will still be some left for Everton!

Champs league gives the best odds of signing top players until we are there we will not compete for this level of player, I would think we are looking good and the future is bright at this time.
How many players have the big guns bought in this window?

31 Jan 2017 16:45:18
Good answers. Still think it will be harder to get our quality targets in the next Window though, mainly because of the No Europe issue.

31 Jan 2017 16:47:02
They are harder in January Howie. Clubs fighting relegation are desperate for players. Selling Clubs know the desperation of some ergo, prices go up. Moshri may be wealthy but League/ Fifa/ Euefa rules on finance still have to be followed.

Everton also intend to begin on a new Stadium. Koeman and Staff have been in the job 6 months only, I would say given that short time frame we have progressed excellently. And how many quality players do you honestly think are available at this stage of the season. Finally look at the transfer ladder money spent, Everton are at the top.

31 Jan 2017 17:15:48
Agreed, i said in an earlier post that i think the squad is reasonably strong bar the Striker options. However its not me but the Club and RK who have said they have Targets or a list as i heard said the other day, so we are looking at spending big ny their own admissions. Just wonder if in the Summer without Europe and competition to buy the targets it might be just harder.

31 Jan 2017 17:17:37
Why the no Europe issue, until it is impossible, we still have a chance, it's not like we are 9 points behind with only 4 games to go, all that is needed is a run of wins and others to slip, let's not forget the great Everton side of 86 who let a 12 point lead slip, can happen to any team, anytime.

31 Jan 2017 17:19:53
I agree Howie that a striker is needed by the club. As you say though it is tough in January and it's rare you get quality being allowed to leave a club.

As for not having Europe. We're closer than you think.

We can still catch the teams above us. Also if United win the league cup and a top 6 side wins the fa cup (5 still in it) it will go to 7th place.

All to play for.

Can only hope on ifs n buts n maybes. If we do get Europe by hook or by crook, then the targets are definately on, but i fear its a slim chance we get Europe. Great optimism though, good on ya!

{Ed002's Note - What targets are these?}

31 Jan 2017 17:26:28
Our Red neighbours have got Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Leicester away, coming up, they are catchable, Spurs, Arsenal, City and Chelsea tougher to catch but you just never know.

31 Jan 2017 17:42:17
No idea Ed, its the Club that has used the terms target and list, whilst admitting to Keane being a target.

31 Jan 2017 22:00:12
There you go Arsenal Spurs, Liverpool all dropping points, win tomorrow and game on, Arsenal away to Chelsea at the weekend so don't give up n that champs league spot just yet, big ask but you just never know.
