Rooney on a free and reportedly ready to take a pay cut to 150k a week.

Id take him for 7.5 million a season all day, especially when there are players a lot worse than him, going for double figures.

If he plays he's getting us 10 goals and 10 assists min a season. Tell me a player who will get that for 7.5 million. (not including Sandro as that was bargain of the summer)

Agree2 Disagree1

That's a very good point JMW.

He's not scored in double figures for the past two years and has scored less each season for the past four years. He only scored 5 in 25 last year.

People need to stop thinking we are getting Rooney of old. We're not and there's no magic fountain of youth.

Him signing brings one thing. Column inches. As for the rest we'll see but I'd be more excited with all of the other players we've bought than a player that has been in serious decline for a number of years.

He's not been Played as a forward player for the last 2 years, I believe he'll have a point to prove, and every time he's had a point to prove He's been dangerous.

Hard to get goals from the bench, he had Zlatan in front of him, he's got more to offer than people give him credit for.

If you are to compare him like for like with Barkley, at this money in time and from last years performances, you'd have to say, on paper, he is the better option at the moment.

BJ I've Been posting the same months ago when it was first mentioned, everyone seems happy to bring him in just for the profile of the club, he's been away more years than he was ever at the club. We should let this one go and look forward not backward. Just read an article in one of the tags online that summed it up perfect, here's the last colum;

'Rooney has already spent all his peak years at United, that is precisely the point. To the naked eye he appears to have none left, but maybe Koeman knows better. Let us all hope so, for a homecoming hero is always a tale worth telling and it will be good to see Rooney in blue again rather than in China or on the front pages through some sort of boredom-related bother.

Only a killjoy or a spoilsport would add a word of warning to such a feelgood story, but it is only a year since Mourinho had complete faith in Rooney’s undimmed ability and so did Roy Hodgson. Neither found a happy ending. '

Both had faith, both dropped him!

Moment in time not money 🙄.

Well he certainly divides opinions amongst United fans now. Even those that still love him have realised that his powers have faded badly, if he does join you we wish him all th best, it will be interesting to see if he can rediscover his mojo.
