Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

Can I ask for people not to write comments about not caring how much we spend because it's not my money. Every time I see it, it makes me cringe and I actually find it quite disrespectful. We buy the tickets and the shirts and I like to think my money goes towards the players. So just chucking money just because we can, just doesn't sit right with me.
Sorry about the moan but it just niggles me when I read it.

To be fair Mowfee many years have gone by when supporters have spent their last dime on tickets and shirts with absolutely nothing spent in transfer windows.

We're all investors in the squad one way or another so out of respect for every evertonians patience over the years let them say what they want. And let the money men at the club do the financial stuff. I'd expect they are well rewarded for it.

I think all of our buys have been fantastic. I see no wasted money.

14 Jul 2017 13:28:37
With the greatest respect Mowfee, you can't ask people not to air their opinion because you don't like it. Again, with respect, I disagree with you. Because fans spend a few hundred quid a year, they think that they have some form of right to know where and how the money is spent. Gate and Merch revenue is a drop in the ocean compared to the billions of Pounds, yes billions, that pours in through the coffers.

You just said it right there toffee ace. Over the years we do spend our hard earned cash and waited" So why be all arrogant about it. I just think it's a childish thing to say.

14 Jul 2017 13:11:37
I understand your comments and respect that it's your opinion but we are also allowed ours. I don't care about the money being spent because there are far smarter people who are there to do that. We don't know the ins and outs of our finances, as well as what we can and can't afford but they do. I have faith in how the club is being ran. If they are happy to sanction a bid, that's more than enough for me.

I don't agree that we shouldn't care how much we spend on players. We as Everton fans have always been proud of the way our club has been financially responsible admittedly our finances weren't in the good health they are now but still we should be paying ridiculous money on average players it's that type of behavior that stifles the emerging talent at clubs, just look at Chelsea. Also look at how embarassing it is when you pay a big transfer fee for a player and he turns out to be useless. I am of course talking about the Niasse transfer, We looked a bit amateurish in that transfer dealing, thank god we have people now who have some idea of what they are doing.

But how can you say that the club is being financially irresponsible Al, when we don't know what money they have at their disposal? I honestly think that the value (or transfer fee) of a player is immaterial these days, as is the sums of money clubs have to spend. I also don't think that we, as laymen so to speak, don't have the faintest idea of what the club should or or shouldn't be paying for a player.

For me, in a nutshell, if you want a player that you think will improve your squad and the player's club doesn't want to sell him, then you have to pay top money for him. I also think that transfer fees and wages should become undisclosed.

What irritates me is that we fans think we know what a player is worth. How do we even know how much a player should cost. It's arrogant to say a player is only worth so much or not worth so much and think we know more than the people who do it for a living.

We then start bickering over the cost of it and get people saying you can say this and that.

The club can pay whatever they want for any player because they know the exact cost of what that player is worth to our club. Who cares how much he's worth to the other club and how much he's worth to the fans.

If Gylfi is the missing piece that gets us in the CL then he is theoretically worth £120mil because that piece completed the team that got us into the competition and will be worth that amount in revenue.

Ignore all the figures mentioned for players and just look at them for what they offer on the pitch and we've done pretty well this summer. Real quality bought in many areas of the pitch and for me it looks like we've got a pretty competitive team.

I can't wait for the season to start. Turn that frown upside down people.

{Ed002's Note - John - the answer is down the middle. We avoid talking money as folks get upset - and the transfer fee is of course only part of the cost. I would love to see the Everton fans step back from the money and talk about how players will be used, who will leave and the hopes and dreams. The it is the domain of Ed025. You screw around getting up upset about money and I will interfere. Celebrate where you are and engage with the supporter - Ed025.}

Fair do's. I suppose we all have the club at heart. Frustration can get to the best/ worst of us (Not sure where I Lye in that one haha) .

15 Jul 2017 10:04:07
Ed002, take a bow!

That's what I'm trying to get at - take a step back from the money and just enjoy what's happening at our club. Talk about what a player is worth in terms of the team, not in pounds shillings and pence. (For the record - I know i'm old, but I don't remember pounds shillings and pence like Ed025 😝)

And BlueJohnUS. Great post mate.

pierreLeBleu I wasn't saying we were being irresponsible as we aren't signing mediocre player and Mowfee82 my only worry with the money being spent isn't the fact we are spending it, it's What happens if the money stream stops we would be in a situation like leeds were and I don't want anything to jeapodize the future of my beloved Blues.
I know this scenario isn't likely to happen but you never know in football.
