Well that was absolutely gut-wrenching to watch tonight. So glad that Lyon didn't get the win otherwise I'd be worried about progression prospects. No need to highlight how bad because it was simply every aspect of our game. At least Koeman had the balls to admit his part in this atrocity and i honestly believe he'll turn it around. He's still 100% the right man for us in my eyes.

So for the select few supporters (you know who you are) who kept stating we didn't need to worry about replacing Lukaku because we'd get more goals throughout our team, how do you feel now? It was so obvious we needed a solid goalscorer, and i can't wait for the Jan window to address this, even with just a short term solution. Until then does anyone have any realistic ideas? Mine would be to play Mirallas up front. He has played and performed as a CF in the past. His attitude is a clear concern but i do think he'd score a few. The only other suggestion, very risky but surely worth a try, is to give Klaassen a shot in attack. We overspent on number 10s that we can't accomodate in the same game, so Klaassen could be the front man with Sig and Rooney behind. He has shown he has an eye for goal with an impressive tally last year, and we know he can time his runs well. I think he'd be an option and then not a 30 million benchwarmer.

Please can everybody not jump to the "Koeman out" scenario. It's still very early days. I think, deep down, we all knew the sequence of league defeats was a distinct possibility and shouldn't be reflective of what we can achieve. Yes tonights result hurts, i honestly thought tonight would be the bright spot in a harsh run of games, but with 5 more games to try and qualify, we should back the team more than ever!

Agree4 Disagree0

Agree re not panicking about the group because we have five games left, my concern is more confidence of the back of an aggregate 6-0 which could have been 12-0. Points total so far in the league is probably about right given the fixtures, but concerned about the lack of improvement.

It's not so much about the overloaded midfield either, more that we looked so off the pace for the second time in a week.

The good times aren't far away with the investment and new stadium, but today is a bad day.

{Ed025's Note - im afraid the good times look miles away for me windsor, the stadium will be no use in the championship mate and thats what we looked like today..

Agree with that 100 percent Worcester mate, but it was bad.

The worrying things are Baines? He didn't seem bothered. Keane looked like he had an off game, siggurdson half a yard off pace which is kind of understandable. Schneidelin should have been running round like a mad man considering. Steklenburg looked good. Vlasic looked lively but needs time on the training ground. Holgate and DCL looked ok. We can all bitch about needing a big man up front but that is not going to help if the 9 men behind him can't get hold of the ball.

I generally consider myself a moderate guy. I don't get too riled up by much but that performance was embarrassing to watch. You could see after the first 40 mins Atalanta lost interest in the game because they knew we posed 0 threat.

The worrying thing for me lately are the performances.

We just look dire every game. Our defense melts away at the sight of any kind of pace or aggression, we signed 45 midfielders over the summer but they might as well not be on the pitch because the ball gets lumped up to our (often lone) striker who can't keep hold of the ball and then it just keeps coming back at our defense. That process just goes on rinse and repeat.

The worst part of it all is that Koeman doesn't seem to look like he knows how to fix any of these issues. You assume if he did he would have communicated this to the players. Every game though it's the same mistakes.

Yes, we had a tough run of fixtures but if we played the way we played tonight against most championship teams we would have been hammered.

{Ed025's Note - i have to agree CT..

Smit it is completely about the big man upfront. There needs to be a focus for the midfield to play towards instead of sideways/ backwards passing. Plus confidence of goals will help the whole team step up their game.

Windsor, i wasn't saying overloaded midfield, more overloaded number 10s. Rooney, Sig, Klaassen, how many players did we really need for the role, never mind the likes of barkley who could also slip in. I agree we look off the pace, i just don't understand why we are so far off the pace in terms of sharpness and movement. It looks like our players have no hunger at all to perform.

Does anyone else also think our defence is a real concern? I know he didn't play tonight but i am really unhappy with the performances of Williams. Right back is an obvious concern but Colemans return will be a real bonus. I love Jags but he tries so hard in the games he plays that he can't play every match, age comes to us all so i can't blame him really. New CB and CF are without doubt essential for us to move forward.
