Crazy talk. Koeman hasn't become a bad manager over a couple of weeks, siggurdson, Schneidelin, Rooney, klassen, Keane and Sandro haven't become bad players overnight. I believe Koeman is chopping and changing so he can understand what his ideal 11 are and what his rotation policy should be. At first I thought playing the top teams this early in the season would be a good thing as they would be settling their teams however thinking about it now i would rather be playing them once Koeman has sorted his new players but we are where we are. I trust he will get it right. Koeman is renowned for having a sticky patch every season, he had it with Southampton and finished 6th and he had it for 10 games last season and finished 7th so I am not panicking. This season is a marathon not a sprint and I am sure we may not break the top 6 or 7 but if we get our target man in January or next summer we will have bedded in some really great young players and Sandro, Klassen and Vlasic have the pedigree to become great players given time.

What I am glad we didn't do is try and buy instant success by paying big bucks for great players who are past their best and maybe had one or 2 seasons left in them.

Good post Smit666. I wrote pretty much the same thing about Koeman in his 2 seasons at Southampton. Both seasons started bad and as the season progressed the team did also. Both seasons they lost a good few players and Koeman was finding his best team. Same has to be happening with the players brought in this summer.

We will get a good run going. It will happen. We just have to be patient and not want to get rid of a manager after a handful of games. Everton don't do that. That's why we are at the top when it comes to how long we are in the top flight for. Long may it continue.

Agree Smit. pretty much all of that. it will turn around. got to give the manager and the squad a chance. It's the first real sticky patch RK has had. do we want the club to hire and fire like Newcastle have in the past or crystal palace now? I remember fergie almost got sacked. what a clanger that would have been. got to keep on supporting.

I know what your both saying that we don't want to turn this club into Newcastle but I realy think we made a massive mistake with apointing Ronald koeman in the first place his body language from the start has never been right for me he has never looked comfortable and has had three transfer windows now and spent a lot of money and we look a shambles not to bothered about the man utd game I don't expect us to get a result but if we don't get a result against Bournemouth at home I think it will show just how bad we realy are.

We improved last year Skylark and to base Koemans performance on a start this year hampered clearly by ins and outs is not fair on him.

If we've learnt anything as Everton supporters it's that patience is key to success. Palace, Newcastle and all those clubs that continue to change manager on a run of a couple of games end up being cannon fodder for clubs like us.

Good posts Smit and N B T B, there are some really crazy posts on here sometimes from all the so called managers amongst us supporters leave it to R K it will all come good,

I can't see him coming good, his man management is abysmal. My way or the highway hasn't worked for years, any player with an ego or lots of self belief he will zap it within 2 months. Jerry, Ross, Lukaku, Baines, Kevin, all zapped. The players have lost respect in him and I doubt he's the type of man who can win it back.

16 Sep 2017 12:06:55
Bebington if those players have lost respect for one the top managers around and one of the best players ever to grace this game then I would be shocked. His man management isn't a million miles away from a certain Alex Ferguson and we know how well he did. Lukaku had a lot of self belief and last season didn't show any sign of it being zapped.

One of the top managers around based on? Player yes granted, and we will see what happens when he starts to blame his own signings. And him blasting Lukaku is why he will score 35+ this season, but for one of the top managers around.

How can Koeman me considered one of the best managers around? I like the man and hope it's turned around quick, but when have you known a top manager to make 2 subs at half time every other game? What's he won of any substance as a manager? Why has he had so many clubs in such a short period of time? Maybe, just maybe, he's actually not a good manager, he hasn't proven it yet.

16 Sep 2017 15:31:19
OllBlue what has he won of any substance? League's and cups, sometimes in teams that on paper shouldn't have won them. He had Southampton punching above their weight even after shipping their best players. In the premiership he is in the top 4 or 5 managers and that is why he is highly regarded by managers and players, and is being mentioned for the arsenal and Barcelona job in the future.

The dutch league is not so hard to win for Ajax, PSV or even Feyenoord, the only one of his managerial honors I'd consider a feat is the Copa del Rey with Valencia. After Unai Emery he was my next choice for manager, but the tactics and signings (although good players in my opinion) are bemusing. We've got no pace, no striker, no threat. We're so easy to play against it's embarrassing. Other teams will pick up on this and set up accordingly.

By the way, on merit and considering what they've got to work with, here's some better managers than Koeman so far - Guardiola, Mourinho, Wenger, Pochetino, Klopp, Marco Silva, Pulis, Howe.

I'm not anti-Koeman at all, really like him an think he can turn it around, just saying how it is here and now which is very very bad.

16 Sep 2017 22:42:32
Pochetinho, klopp Silva and pulis and howe? Why? Give me some good reason why these managers would be considered better.
