Since Ed033 mentioned Rafa below it got me thinking, is a problem with the club not the fact everyone is a loser? I know people love Ferguson, Unsworth and some of our players, but they are all losers, they achieved nothing of note as players and our last 3 managers have been losers too

Look at Moyes, yes did well with Preston and fantastic with us, never won anything, bottled each time we came close

Martinez won the FA Cup yes and seemed like a winner at the beginning but again fell into the losing mentality of the club (and no I'm not blaming the club for how bad a manager he was)

Koeman was a wonderful player but as a manager he's done what, sacked in Holland, did decent with Southampton (carrying on Poch's work) and a solid first season with us but hasn't won anything of note

Unsworth has done great things with the under 23s, but that's where he belongs at the moment

The club from the top down is full of people who don't know how to win, I saw Phil Neville say he thinks Unsworth should be given the job, no, that's precisely what's wrong with the club

We need a winner to take over the club and bring in winners as his back room staff, get rid of the staff who have a small club mentality and I mean EVERY person at the club like that, if we want to win things we have to be ruthless, give me a winner as manager next instead of Unsworth because "he shows passion he knows the club" or Eddie Howe because "he's done well at Bournmouth"

We need winners at the club and until we do that, I'm afraid we will always be a big club getting smaller and smaller every season until we are just another mid table team who won't compete in the cups, I'm so fed up with people saying we need to employ people who know the club, well, unless they have a winning mentality, then no, get people in who are winners and you'll find us actually start to win again, Mourinho is a winner but so many fans would prefer someone like Eddie Howe, why? The difference in quality between the 2 is huge, yes Mourinho can be a nob, but he's a nob who wins trophies everywhere he goes, give me that over "well we played well today but were a bit unlucky" Eddie Howe

Get the people with an inferiority complex out the club.

{Ed0333's Note - great read fella. Well done.

Amen Swan, and welcome back.

I would exactly say we compete in cups now fella. Unfortunately!

Exactly Swan. Enough said.

Great post swan couldn't have put it better myself we need a total clear out and the likes of big Dunc although he is blue through and through as is our chairman and a few others but it's time to go and stop this small family run club mentality . GET SOME WINNERS IN.

great post I actually thought koeman was the one who would install that winning mentality instead he was just a arrogant poor manager flip knows where we go from here.

I agree we need a winning mentality, Swan. Getting winners in isn't that easy, though. Very few, if anyone, would actually prefer Howe to Mourinho. The difference is we can't get Mourinho.

Which winners are wanting to come to Everton and we're knocking them back? By definition, there aren't many managers who win stuff. Those that do are almost all already at bigger clubs than Everton, and those who win stuff want a job at a champions league team rather than a job at Everton.

Silva has won stuff, but many on here don't think he's won the right stuff or won things with the right teams. No manager who has won the biggest trophies in Europe is available to us. I suggested AVB on here now the Chinese league has finished. I don't know if we could get him but he's won stuff. People voted down the suggestion. Who exactly are these winners we should be getting in? Realistically.

It's the same with players. The two players we have who have won stuff (at senior level) are Rooney and Klaassen. Between them, they've probably had more stick than anyone in the squad bar Martina. We can't sign loads of winners because - again, by definition - they want to play in winning teams.

We've got to find a manager who overachieves with the squad they have. We aren't in a position to buy winners - we have to become winners.

Liked Sawans post and would agree. Trouble is while we have the small club mentality with people like the "firm" installed what chance does any new manager with a hard line approach have. While Koeman had his faults it does make me wonder if the "firm" within ganged up on him. We need winners from top to bottom. Time for Bill and co to go and make way for the new hierarchy.
