Gutted TBH that mirallas has left - cannot believe the amount of comments about wanting to get rid of him

We need attacking options and here is a lad who has scored 40 goals in 130 appearance s for the club - yes his attitude may stink but when you are not given the opportunity to play no wonder especially when we need goals

Every season bar last mirallas was in the top 3 goalscores for the club since his arrival in 2013 - can't be that bad surely. there are many other players that needed to go before Mirallas IMHO.

Agreed.

The man had a terrible attitude. good riddance.

Mirallas should have been sold two years ago has done Nowt for last number of years. Get rid of snederlin and willians as well and get in tierney for left back and I’d love wilshire for creative midfielder ( long shot I know) . In summer will need a strong young Centre back, box to box midfielder and winger. Hope Tuson is the real deal 😬😬. DCL is going to be class as well please God 👍🏿👍🏿.

Actually only scored 30 in 150 games, he’s no attacking option, pace has gone now because his hamstrings are shattered.

By your own admittance ‘his attitude stinks’. So you reward him by letting him play week in, week out. What message does that give to the rest of the squad? To the youth? There is a bigger picture to look at, which we don’t see, it was his time to move as too many managers seem to see the same thing going on with him.

As the original poster said, he was our 3rd highest scorer up until last season. His assist record was also good up until last season. I remember posting about replacing players without goals in them and in the last 6 months we have got rid of our 3 top scorers. Lukaku, Barkley and now Mirallas. Ok Rooney has bagged a few and Sig if he stays fit. but their goal tally is way dowwn compared to the 3 we have lost other than that we have not many goals in the squad. Nowhere near what we had 2 years ago. that's why we are not scoring goals now. Its not rocket science. I sincerely hope Tosun bangs a few in and yes we need some goalscorers in the team. I am surprised we gave Mirallas a new contract tho.

5 managers have all used and dropped him! tells its own story.

To be fair degsy barkley got 5 and kev has got 4in his last two seasons. For kev it's not a big void left behind.

Niasse has already got 5 and sig and DCL have 3apeice.

From Dec to May last year we scored the most goals aside from Barcelona in the whole of Europe.

The big space to fill has been Rom. Hopefully we have found it although I would like another.

For me the problem scoring is, and this is not just Sam, too defensive tactics, not playing Lookman, Vlasic, Sig, in the right positions or consistently enough and confidence being knocked after playing the bigger teams all in a row when we are settling in a huge amount of new players.

Confidence is now coming back slightly but this is going to take time.

I would like also for us to get another player on the wings as Lennon for me even though his attitude is the best in the squad, is not good enough going forward.

{Ed025's Note - i will have that john..

Totally dazza the jock. Unsworth didn't send him home for nothing.

degsyp what are you talking about? Lukaku, Barkley and Mirallas wanted out so there is nothing the club could do.

You are aware Rooney has 10 premier league goals so far? How many had Lukaku this time last year? Sick of people saying we haven't replaced Lukaku. Its not as bad as people make out.

If we're honest it's been a bit of everything, first we couldn't score or defend, then we started scoring a few but couldn't defend and now we can defend but struggle to score.

I suppose the positive thing to take from that is the team is capable of doing both but, we need to find that balance. Hopefully with Tosun joining and the likes of Siggy finding form and fitness and, with Bolasie giving us some pace, this can be achieved.
Then Sam will be able to integrate the likes of Klassen, Davies, Lookman and Vlasic slowly, and into a team that is performing. Something Koeman should have done from the start.

BJU and NBTB I was not trying to be contradictory nor confrontational. I was tring to point out something that I have probaably gone on about over the last 3 years too much! In Moyes' last couple of seasons, we haad goals throughout the team. After he went, Martinez added Lukaku to the squad and that brought a guaranteed 20 plus per season. At that stage both fullbacks were getting 5 ish. Each of the midfielders were getting a few too. But players like Graveson, Arteta, Fellaini, Mirallas, Barkley, Cahill, Pienaar, Osman, Naismith etc all banged in with half a dozen goals each and maybe more. We then signed: Barry, Besic, McCarthy, Gueye, Deulofeu, Kone, Cleverly, McGeady, Lennon, Valencia, Bolasie and Niasse. Look at the first group of attacking mids/ forwards and see how many goals would come from it and then look at the 2nd bunch. The 2nd bunch each score less than 3 a season on average (Kone excepted) . Some just don't score. If you don't agree, fair enough. I don't want a big argument about it. its just my opinion that we were signing players with few goals between them. So when we lost Lukaku, Barkley and Mirallas (our top 3 potential scorers) it left us thin on goals. Yes Rooney has come in with a few (Thank God) and Niasse has a few. But I don't see many goals from the 2nd list. I do see future goals from DCL and Lookman and Davies. but these are kids who should be developed slowly. And they are not part of whaat I was saying anyway. It is the calibre of player aand I believe our football now reflects our poor signings rather than anything Allardyce is doing. I believe our signings this last 3 or 4 years has been terrible (Lukaku aside) . We have now lost quality players and replaced them with bang average players in my opinion. Otherwise we would be creating more chancesand scoring more goals. Right now we look like a team with hardly a shot to muster and using a bunch of kids to scrape results. Some people are putting it down to Allardyce. I put it down to previous bad signings.

Spot on Degs.

You bring this up every transfer window degsy.

We are now 5 years down the line from Moyes. Why don't you just bring up Kendalls team from the 80s?

Listen we replaced Fellani with Rom. He scored more goals and got more assists. Barkley didn't play under Moyes and martinez gave him his chance which he took so he didn't need to replace a number 10/ 8. As for Cahill again Rom/ Barkley covered his goals.

On the the other ones you mention here are their stats: osman averaged 4 goals in his last 5 seasons with us, Pienaar av 3, gravesen av 2, naismith av 4. Rom scored more last season than these put together in a season. We also had a real genuine striker that we haven't had for a very long time and had to play a different way.

Anyone who scores an average 2,3 or 4 goals is not hard to replace.

The players we have and who we've signed are very good players. We need to get a balance to the team and give them a focal point up front.

But a Moyes team as I've shown you before were never prolific scorers they were just hard to beat. Stop trying to kid they were!
