Well, bad day at the office all round yesterday. Absolutely gutted for McCarthy, it looked a horrendous injury and I hope he has a speedy recovery.

On paper, the team looks strong (with the exception of Martina) so why are we playing so badly? And anyone who doesn’t think we were woeful yesterday need to re-evaluate their life! I just cannot fathom what is wrong with us and why we look so poor.

Finally, special mention to the Goodison faithful for the atmosphere yesterday. I know it’s been bad for a long time, but yesterday was quite possibly the worst atmosphere I’ve ever experienced at GP. The moans and groans almost from the first whistle were embarrassing. It’s almost like the seats in the ground are inhabited by professional moaners. The way I see it, either get behind the team or don’t go to the match. Simple.

So Pierre you start by stating how terrible we are and then expect us as fans to be jovial and cheer this 'football', get a grip mate, give us something to cheer on and maybe we will, this isn't Everton we are witnessing, this is a bunch of 5 year olds on a playground at dinner time.

21 Jan 2018 12:12:16
You can't expect the fans to be anything else other than unhappy with what we are witnessing every home game. If the players showed a bit more fight and desire on the pitch then that will get the crowd going but this insipid style of football is sucking the soul out of us all. I paid over 500 quid for my ticket and have been left feeling short changed for the majority of this season. It's painful to watch mate.

in all fairness how are we
meant to create an atmosphere when before yesterday we hadn't had a shot on target in the premiership this year the team get the atmosphere going it has to start on the pitch and I'm sorry but they aren't really doing anything to rally us up are they.

The three replies above illustrate exactly what I’m on about. You pays your money, you has you say kind of thing. Do you think I get in for free? I’ve watched Everton through some dark times - Gordon Lee, early days of Kendall, Walker, Smith et al; but there was always the crowd to get behind the team. Never have I witnessed such abject derision on the terraces and negative, toxic behaviour from the majority of the fans. If you got that description, then you are part of the problem and as bad as the players. It’s called support - you encourage the team, not berate them and moan incessantly at every poor ball or every weak challenge. I suppose it’s just the changing face of supporters and the change in demographic in the ground. I for one am getting more disillusioned with the crowd more than the team. I’m sick of listening to the same waffle from the middle class twits who live in Heswall, week in week out.

I stand by my original post - support the team or don’t bother going.

And by the way, no one is expecting anybody to be happy with the football. Just a bit of encouragement wouldn’t go a miss instead of constant moaning at the slightest thing and then leaving your seat five minutes before half time to get your bovril.

The players are getting paid anything from 30 to 100k+ a week and you're saying it's us who has to get them going? Absolute rubbish, a few good tackles and some effort creates a great atmosphere at Goodison. We're not scarf waving blind idiots like half the kopites. We're proper football fans and what we're being given in terms of football and effort is a disgrace.

I'm really starting to warm to you Pierre Good posts.

Do you know how many times supporters have gone to the game full of hope this season. Yesterday was no different, two new players so things must improve? Supporters have had the life drained out of them by this teams performance and tactics. You want them to get behind the team? Then the team has to give us something to support.

OllBlue- “a few good tackles an some effort creates a great atmosphere at Goodison” and I’m the one talking rubbish?

You go to Curry's pay £550 for a telly then get home and what it says on the box is not what's in the box, do you A: cheer, be overjoyed and give Curry's positive feedback or B: Complain that what you were sold is below expectation, I take it Pierre you would do answer A?
Football is a business and is no different to shopping, I was promised a season challenging the top 6 by the manager at the time and the majority shareholder, the staff they employed have failed to give me this so I will moan when I want, especially with the substandard level of football on display and I'm a fella from Huyton not Heswall but were your from makes no difference to what shite is dished up on the pitch.

22 Jan 2018 15:56:14
I totally disagree with your analogy and you obviously don’t get my point. As I’ve said before, if that’s you opinion, then you’re part of the problem imho and that is the reason the atmosphere is so poor on the ground.
