Still say the team was poor and inherited when Big Sam took it over, after all Martinez was useless, Koeman was useless, his only claim to fame was Southampton but the team he had had been inherited from the now Spurs manager, and Rhino as much as I love the guy for what he has done for Everton great lad as well just wasn't ready for the first team, so we have to give Big Sam at least till the end of the season and see where we are, just to finish this team need a good kick up the backside and they owe it to Everton and its fans to get us out this mess they are quite happy to receive their thousands in pay every week.

Good post mate.

The clue is in the title, manager. He clearly can't get the best out of these players, and doesn't trust the "flair" players we have. Hence the negative teams he puts out. Losing 1-0 to a team second from bottom so take a striker off and bring a striker on. Probably thinks a draw is a good result. Well I don't, and his style of football is ruining good players.

Absolutely, we have no other options available other than to get behind the team and cheer them on through good and bad.
Expectations just too high for this season due to the spending, lesson learned.

We do need to give him till the end of the season. Can he find a team that works?

seems to me if I remember Palace beat Chelsea a little while ago mate, any team can beat anyone.

Woburn, how do you know that Sam cannot get the best out of these players? Perhaps the ones he has to pick from are performing as well as they can? Like I have said a 100 times. Moyes left and Martinez begaan replacing the Moyes squad. He made the error of signing many very young players and many ageing players but did not sign many at thepeak of their careers. ie in the sort of 23 -28 range. He also allowed players to retire or go elsewhere who were mobileplayers who chipped in with assists and goals. He was fortunate to have Barkley come through and made one absolute incredible signing in Lukaku. I siad at the time that we would suffer in the next 3 or 4 years due to our over reliance on Barkley and Lukaku. I also said 199 times that creative midfielders such as Osman, Pienaar, Arteta, Carsley and Gravesson had not been replaced. We reliedmostly on Barkley and Lukaku for goals. So Martinez started signing defensively good midfielders such as McCarthy, Barry, Besic and Gueye. Well I can guarantee that all 4 of those will not score as many goals as any one from the list above as long as they play! So suddenly this season Koeman has to do without Barkley and Lukaku and the team is down about 30 goals from previous seasons. Yes Rooney has done well (although I think his overall game is now limited with his lack of pace. ) . but he is now not a forward. and he does get caught in possession quite a bit. Yes Niasse has scored a few from the bench. But how many goals have our defenders and midfielders scored overall. Mirallas is another natural goalscorer who we have let go, which is why I guess Walcott is in. My overall view is the damage was done over 4 years. It is not down to one man who currently tries to pick the team and play in a certain way. The icing on the cake was the shocking last transfer window whereby we missed out on Giroud and got Martina in. He is not even Championship level from what I have seen. The current lot of midfielders are so poor that the defense is under constant pressure and leaks goals. The goalkeeper is the only real top signing we have made since Lukaku. Compare the current squad with the Moyes latter squad and there is no comparisson. It says something that we still consider Jags, Baines and Coleman as first teamers if not first choice in their positions. They all should have been replaced by now with players ready for first team action. Expecting Kenny and Holgate to play the amount of games on such young heads is too much. Williams is already past it and with Jags. both can only be considered stop gap stuff. I am sure this is why the last 2 managers have chpped and changed so much. and of course that does not help the team gel. Now add in the recent forward simings and how many goals/ assists they are likely to make and you can see we really are a bottom half team at the moment. Teams in this groupmust try and beat their rivals around them but must not lose to them. The points we picked up against Bournmouth and WBA might yet mean all the difference come the end of the season.

Woburnblue how was it a negative team? Only negativity was 2 defensive midfielders playing. You were one crying for either Lookman or Vlasic, you get your wish and still moan.
Imo we lacked a player to link the defence and attack, the 2 defensive mids just didn’t move it good enough behind them, macca was given the job but he’s not that type of player. I would of preferred Rooney next to macca, macca breaks up play gives to Rooney who can then turn and move the ball. Next game needs to be Gana with Rooney for me. We played a bit better when he came on, snids just seems too slow to have next to him tho.
Left back is needed ASAP, everyone just targets our left.
Hopefully a few more tweaks to his tactics and we can start seeing better results. I’ve not lost faith just yet but it is hard.

Where is this fascination that Vlasic is a winger?
He is a central player, or wide in a front 3 at best. To put him on the wing ahead of Martina was never going to work. Just another square plug in a round hole.

good posts above.

21 Jan 2018 15:56:08
Very good posts Degsy and Besty.

21 Jan 2018 16:33:54
Do you seriously think Vlasic was playing as a winger yesterday? And yes it’s negative when you play two, yes two holding midfielders at home against a team second from bottom. As for getting the best from the players? Did you see that yesterday, we were bloody awful, in fact I would go as far as to say we are currently the worst footballing side in the league, and that is down to the manager.

21 Jan 2018 17:02:21
Where was Vlasic supposed to be playing then Woburn?

If I remember the summer saints appointed RK they had just been tipped for relegation and everyone was shaking their heads at them selling all their best players. Pretty sure the bookies had them favs to go down.
Rk did well everywhere he managed except us in the first games of this season. Facts don't matter though.

A load of old timers think B.S. is the messiah but he's just an artefact and everyone can see it except those who are blindly happy at as small manager who blows smoke up our backsides. Do you remember when Newcastle fans were on his back? He mocked them and said he was the manager and their fans knew nothing. Well here he knows it's too big a club to fob us off with such nonsense. Unfortunately some fans would rather cut their noses off just to justify their insane ramblings.

Please make all the comments you want but don't try to 're write history.
