Let the defenders defend and push for a more attacking style of play, press higher up the pitch and not sit deep inviting teams on to us.

I don't think that changing the formation again will fix this (although as professionals they should be able to adapt) so I would go back towards the Leicester game.

palace could completely overrun us if we play 4 in midfield considering the quality of attacking players they have, i'd rather see a 451 with schniederlin playing as the anchor and letting gueye run free alongside with him, siggurson in the center and bolasie and wallcot down the wings with tosun playing as a striker.
or play rooney alongside gueye and try him out as a deep lying play maker and play walcott down the middle, it would work like

The trouble with this formation is we sit to deep the defenders rely on the defensive midfielders to much and we invite the opposition on to us. It didn't work for Martinez or Koeman and it has not worked this season. Perhaps our players cannot adapt to it?

the lad has undeniable quality, who else would you play in that role? i think most of these players need the team to be playing well to play well themselves, we've lacked cohesion all season, for whatever reason i still want to ease davies into the starting 11,it might do more harm than good honestly.

no our problem is that we've negated the midfield too much, at arsenal we basically parked the bus instead of opting to stifle their midfielde which is where their attacks come from in the first place, it was quite stupid because of the pace and quality they had.

I think we all need to forget about Garbutt now, everyone keeps putting him in their starting XI, me included.
I think it’s safe to say he is not going to play there must be a reason for this which the club are not saying. I can’t believe any media aren’t asking these questions when we have the prematch news conference.

with the 442 or like Man City who play 433 you defend from the front, strikers shut down CB's and wingers shut off the full backs, you push the back line higher up the pitch. The problem when we play the 4231 is we sit to deep and seem not to know who we are marking when it gets crowded out. Arsenals short quick passing tore us apart and no one seemed to know who they were picking up!
Watch Man City when the play 433 and see how the press the game much higher up the pitch, yet their only defensive midfielder is Fernandinho.

do we have the personell to do that though? tosun (with all due respect to the turkish league) is probably not capable of that in this league, and calvert lewin has a tendency to drift off wide which just opens up space for palace.

you could also make the case for us starting to play like barcelona if you compared other teams but we simply do not have the personell for a higher press so we need to keep things compact yet fluid as possible.

we played this formation against west ham Huddersfield nufc and Liverpool away, then switched it up and got worse.

gueye is just as crap as schniederlin at the moment 2 defensive midfielders that are afraid to throw a tackle in and offer nothink going forward arsenals midfield walked right past them without either of them getting to them or throwing a challenge in its horrendous they offer no protection for the back four or offer anything going forward apart from a pass to the back or side chelsea have the same problem playing kante and bakayoko we are not going to win anythink playing either of them in midfield don't get me wrong gueye is good he's a good tackler when he plays well but he can't play football he's the type of player you bring on as a sub when your winning 2-1 with 10 minutes to go.
