This is happening cause there is no direction the club are going and by that I mean the football side of things, the new ground seems to be going well and I have no doubt Moshiri will do great business with lots of revenue, but we got our selves in a right mess when we sacked Koeman our fans were wrongly expecting us to have a right go at top 6 when with a lot of new players being brought in, this season was only going to be a difficult season you just can't bring in that many and it will all click.
I personally think if Koeman was still hear we would have been a better side and with more points.
Now we have Big Sam who was never going to be here next season, we are pretty safe but players now know there will be a different manager here soon, my point is what is the point in waiting till summer we should be giving Klassen, lookman, Tosun game time now so by summer we look a team come start of next season.

If Sam, is on his way out why was he given the cash to buy Tosun and Walcott. I think there are going to be a lot of disappointed fan next season when SA is still in the hot seat. It was highly unlikely that Tosun would adapt to the PL in a few games so why get him if your replacing the manager after half a season?

I think SA, Moshiri and walsh saw Tosun whilst watching Monaco so it would have been a Walsh appointment not Allardyces.
It would also be pointless to have a DOF and let the Manager choose who he buys.
I am not certain, but i would have thought Koeman with a 3 year contract would have had some say in who was bought once identified, but Allardyce had only been here a matter of weeks so wouldn't have had much input on players.

For Sam to be here next season he would have to be offered a new contract at the end of this season, it would be pointless letting him manage when the players know he has less than 12 months left and i wouldn't expect the club would let that happen, its bad for morale.

I think Moshiri is all too aware of his Summer priorities. deleting Bills and steves input and sticking to his guns and signing us the sort of manager that has a bright future not a bright past. Hopefully he can buy out Bill too as too many chefs spoilt the brothe.

As I said there may be a lot of disappointed fans at the beginning of next season.

Fair point Smit, wonder if a few of the players have had a wedge on Sam getting the elbow. God knows there trying there best to make it happen.

Unless a new manager has been contacted regarding a summer contract offer and had his input into buying Walcott and tosun? I guess we will not know until the summer. I just know we need some stability and consistency within the club.

A lot of very interesting views and points. My own view is that Matinez took over from Moyes' very very good squad. He added Lukaku who was an "incredible" signing. Results were exceellent and Barkley and Lukaku were banging in 30 goals a season between them. However, Lukaku was destined to move to a Champions League club. as was probably Barkley too. In the meantime we signed a lot of very average players. Lennon, Cleverly, Besic, Delofeu and a few more. We thensigned some excellent young players for the future. and some ageing players who only had limited time. Not may were signed at their "peak". So as the ageing players actually aged. so did the ones remaining from Moyes' squad. Results dropped off and Martinez was sacked. Koeman came in and the "new manager" syndrome of improved results happened. But it was obvious that Koeman lost some of the dressing room. Barkley has not really said anything, but more went on than we know. Lukaku was going to leave anyway. Koeman made a rod for his own back by dismissing Niasse from the squad. That must have affected any friends he had in the squad. So then Lukaku leaves and Barkley leaves. 30 goals a season gone. Then the terrible transfer window of number 10 signings. So he Koeman is sacked and Sam Allergy brought in. Still playing are Jags, Baines and Coleman from 10 years ago. None really replaced to any high standard yet losing their legs. Ok I accept Coleman has a couple more seasons, but Jags and Baines should now not be considered long term. Half the players brought in since Moyes have been shipped out anyway. The club seems to have lost it's way in making decent signings. Particularly defensively. or we would have a new back 4 and not one relying on Moyes' players. The summary of all that is. the squad we have is not as good as the squad Moyes left us with. It temporarily improved when Lukaku signed. but since has deteriorated. So why anyone expects us to be doing better than we are I don't understand. Whoever was manager would have this squad and yes they may change tactics. but in the short term they cannot change players in the numbers needed to put their own print on things. We need probably 4 or 5 transfer windows to get some players in at their peaks. We need a little luck with developing youngsters and also luck keeping players from predatory Champions League clubs.

Agree with pretty much all of that Degs.

26 Feb 2018 20:40:18
Good post Degsy. Although up until Moshiri we didn't really have the funds to add quality through the squad. No excuse since he arrived though.

I backed Sam and to a point still do (he took the job when nobody else wanted it) , I thought with his down to earth say it as it is approach, it would rub off on the Club. Unfortunately according to said Sam, non of this present situation is his fault despite having worse stats than either Koeman or Martinez. My thoughts now are that Martinez (11th) would perhaps have improved in his third season but New Owner = new broom and all that. Koeman I am 99 percent certain would have sorted this mess out by now. I am also convinced now that Sam will be gone in the Summer with no doubt a hefty compensation package (we do seem to like compensating our Managers for failure or mediocracy) and another Manager appointed. Please please Mr Moshri hire an advisor (DoF) first that actually knows the game (Hoddle will not come as DoF, but by heck he is worth a consultancy fee) and then pay whatever it takes for that experts advice to be acted upon. Hopefully plans are already in place.

myteamsbetterthanyours with 49.9 percent of Everton shares and with (apparently) up to 3 percent shares missing/ unaccounted for he is already effectively in control.

26 Feb 2018 23:12:26
I agree with that Ducks.

27 Feb 2018 07:15:33
surely tosun and walcott wer bought in by walsh? is that not a DOF role and the manager is effectivly just head coach now?
