Bit of fun time: What is the best game you have ever seen a single player at Everton have. Everton player of course. not the opposition. I am struggling to think of one for me. But will have a think.

Agree0 Disagree2

Bob Latchford's first has to be in with a shout. a hatrick if I remember! Clinical!

21 Mar 2018 11:16:05
Gotta go for naismith vs Chelsea. Hay trick.

21 Mar 2018 11:17:25
Also amokachi best game must have been semi final 95 vs spurs. Didn't do much for us but got us to final.

21 Mar 2018 12:12:50
Kanchelskis bagging 2 against the dark side. The most devastating pace and direct football I’ve seen in a player for us.

21 Mar 2018 13:48:54
I'd love him back now ace. Btw good post degsy.

Also cadamateri scoring 2 against the other lot.

21 Mar 2018 14:38:45
Sherry v man u 5-0 or Trevor Steven v Sunderland 4-2.

21 Mar 2018 14:43:06
Too right geoff. Loved watching him play. Proper gets you off your seat.

21 Mar 2018 15:13:55
controversial probably, but one of the games I've enjoyed a lot and the player stood out was fellaini v city when he turned bellamy may not bethe greatest but am a young era can't think of many haha!

21 Mar 2018 15:29:33
Trevor Steven was the most underated player ever. 444 games and 78 goals. 10 league champion winning medals with Burnley, Everton, Rangers and Marseille. UEFA Cup winners medal. 1 FA Cup winners medal. 2 Scottish League Cup. 4 Charity Shields. 1 FA Cup runners up. 1 League runners up. that's a total of 20 medals. He had one unsuccessful season with Burnley. Whilst a few of the league medals were with Rangers, they kept Celtic at bay and his other achievements are second to none! His whole career was successful whichever team he played with.

21 Mar 2018 16:37:55
Steve Watson Hat-Trick in a 4-0 demolition of Leeds Utd, September 2003. The reason I pick this over others is simply due to him playing predominantly as a RB!

21 Mar 2018 16:47:24
The problem with picking Trevor Steven or anyone else from that team of the mid eighties is that there wasn’t a particular player that stood out as they were all just brilliant. So as much as I loved the football and of course the success, it’s hard to find a stand out player in a particular match because to be as good as they were it took all eleven of them to be awesome.

Spot on Degsy, absolutely cracking player. Still remember that goal he scored against Sunderland when the Mackenzie had the nerve to take the lead. Southall to Bracewell, he volleys it across the park to Steven who takes it in his stride and smashes it into the net. 3 players took less than 3 seconds from keeper to goal.
God I miss those days.

21 Mar 2018 17:33:05
Toffee ace I agree with you but there were some stand out performances as I mentioned above sheedy and Steven but also Andy Gray fa cup against Notts county.
I also have to say Big Nev against Southampton 84 semi was His greatest game for us. We would be been 5 or 6 down if it wasn't for Big Nev that day.
Great team collectively though.

21 Mar 2018 17:41:51
Well guys you are all 100% right because there are no wrong answers in this one. It really is about opinions. Woburn that goal really was something special. They used it on match of the day the next season as the intro if I remember correctly. The angle he was in was so bad he should not have even contemplated shooting. The Andy Gray diving header 2 inches off the ground also springs to mind. And Toffee ace you are also 100% right with your assessment. I would even go one further and say even our subs were top notch. Alan Harper could play just about anywhere and put a great performance in. Kevin Richardson was another who we got rid of way too soon I always thought. And no mention of Rooney's goal away to Leeds. our first win there for donkeys. I guess there are just so many that we need reminding. I have one last one to mention. my neighbours Dad took me to my first game 1967. I can't remember who it was but I think it was Jimmy Husband or John Hurst who did an overhead kick that flew into the Gladwys Street goal and would have hit mein the face if there was no net! Of course the crowd erupted into a noise like I had never ever heard before. Some guy picked me up and hugged me. That bit I will never forget. At first I was scared. but I soon wanted more! If anyone remembers the goal let me know the game! I have a feeling it was Stoke?

1971 Everton 8 v Southampton 0

Ball 1
Johnson 3
Royle 4

Big Joe was possessed that day. Nothing could stop him.

21 Mar 2018 18:48:16
Rooney v Arsenal. What a way to say hello to the footballing world.

Sheedy v Luton. The famous two freekicks.

Nev in the 95 final.

Arteta v Fiorentina.

Dunc v United.

Lineker v city 86. If you ever want to know what a top striker should be like then watch him in this game. He chases everything including lost causes and gets one of his goals just doing exactly that.

Sharp v that lot.

Dunc v that lot.

However, i'm with Ace. Kanchelskis v Liverpool was utterly brilliant. He scared the poop out of them. We were brilliant on the day and deserved the 3 points.

A little note on Royle who was manager for the last two. Undefeated against Liverpool as manager. They hated him. Absolutely hated him. And those players were not world beaters individually but together they were A bloody good team. The season before they were tipped to go down only for him to turn them into winners. A better board and chairman would have seen us challenging at the top again.

So many to choose from, although strangely not from recently. i'd go for Jelavic scoring against Citeh after a lengthy goal drought, when the ball was layed off to him in the box, the whole good is on faithful stood up and shouted "Shoot! ", he bundled it towards goal, despite kicking his own feet and it went in. Everyone went berserk, Jelivic ran around the pitch swinging his shirt like a nutter, like Niasse probably did with his key when he was finally given a locker. I'd also go for Saha smashing 5 past Blackpool. He was immense, but sadly never again after that, really.

My goodness I agree with every one of you guys. just need ED025 to give us his pick. BJU classic! NickB57 I was there at that game! After about 15 minutes we were 3nil up and I remember saying to my next door neighbour/ mate. if this carries on we willwin 8 nil! lol . best ever prediction from me and I was 13 at the time! Downhill since! Great replies all of you. come on Ed025 get the noodles working and tell us yours!

{Ed025's Note - i wish my memory was as good as all you guys degsy, but im sure it would be a bob latchford one, or maybe a screamer from martin dobbo or mick lyons heading in a corner mate..

21 Mar 2018 22:23:02
I remember Mick Lyons heading in at the Park End against the dark side and dancing in the street end for 5 mins with my mate ony for it to be disallowed! Usual story. Ref against us too!

21 Mar 2018 22:26:34
A big thanks to Degsy getting us to remember the good times. Who knows what's next hey. 😉.

21 Mar 2018 22:42:56
Got to give a special mention to Gary Stevens whilst we're all reminiscing
How good was he ay?

{Ed025's Note - great pauly..

22 Mar 2018 01:04:05
Dave Hickson scoring the winner against Man. United on 14th February 1953. He had a great game and it was four days before my 13th Birthday.

22 Mar 2018 07:31:00
Yep BJU we sometimes have such a tough time as Evertonians. like this season. I thought I would make things a bit of fun and get people's grey cells going! Young Boys away. That's another for me. Lukaku just ran riot with a hatrick. Their fans said it was Young Boys 1 Lukaku 3. we had actually beat them 4-1.

22 Mar 2018 10:16:06
Kanchelskis Hat trick away v Sheff Wed in a 5-2 win, even the away support gave him an ovation at the end! totally unplayable that day!

22 Mar 2018 17:18:37
And I just remebered Tom Davies' against Citeh last season. Any of the "top 4" club players scores that and they would have called it Brazilian and talked about it for years!

23 Mar 2018 20:50:47
A more recent one but I was sat with a mate of mine amongst the West Ham firm nutters when Baines scored his two free kicks - one top right, the other top left. Most difficult moments of my life not jumping around going mental for fear of being kicked to death.
