Over the last three months I have been having some rather intense treatment at the local hospital. Today we have seen the consultant/ doctors in charge to be told that the treatment has not gone as well as expected, and the prognosis is not the ideal one so to speak.

Tomorrow I am taking Mrs GT to Scotland for 2 days to revisit the place of our honeymoon almost 55 years ago. We only had a 2 day honeymoon, We are then going to spend some time with family members where I will try and annoy the heck out of them.

During this time I will not be posting on here, as with all due respect this place does not really rate highly on my priority list at this moment in time, Realistically I don't think I will be able to post on here for the remainder of this season. Whilst the prognosis does not bode well for me I hope and pray that my posts will restart at some point in time.

When I go on in these forums it is because I am an old Evertonian, I can remember the ground before we even had floodlights and us playing in the Second division, That's why I smile to myself when people say this is the worse we have ever been, Nothing could be further from the truth.

This post is going all over the place, I'm finding it a little difficult at the moment to put things into words. I am only saddened that I will never get to see the new ground but that is my only regret. I know I have angered many on here including the Eds at time but hey, these things happen.

I have enjoyed myself on here and hope to have a couple more controversial posts left in me, but that will be dependant on how the next month or so go. What would make me chuckle is if SA does not get sacked even though it would mean us not moving forward for another season. I would love to be able to post "I told you so".

I will let you all in on something now. I do not like SA one bit, RM RK DU and SA have never been my first choice nor will they ever be. My posts here have always been to offer a different perspective on things and as I hope I have proved, I was prepared to go toe to toe with all of you. My posts were really done because no one else was prepared to do that, I have watched cliques formed and a blind backing for each other happening within these forums. If some of you had said we should start to play in Red kits others would of agreed. Nothing wrong with that though I suppose.

May I offer a little insight from a grumpy old git, whilst 95% of posts cover the same ground and say exactly the same thing, for months on end, then people like myself will always pop up to antagonise you all. At one stage if I were standing next to SA some of you would of struggled as to who to throw the egg at first.

In my many many years of supporting Everton it may surprise people to know that far from having blind support I actually see the same things as you all do, Now no matter how many of you think otherwise I do not actually support SA where we all differ is that I do not keep on saying it over and over again. A lot of you complained I repeat myself yet still the daily anti SA posts continue mainly by the same people.

Chances are I will be with the big guy next season looking down on our club with fondness and saying to him " SA seems a lot better this season eh? "

I am away now folks I have a heck of a lot of things to do. I hope each and every one of you finds peace and happiness.

GT.

Grumpy I hope Fonseca takes over soon just so I can say I told you so ha
Sorry to hear that news and I'm hoping you do see the new ground mate.
The life of an Evertonian ey?
We spend so much time wishing and hoping that one day we will see the success our fan base deserves.
I started watching the blues as a 9 yr old.
First game I remember clearly was Watford 84 cup final.
Growing up watching the 80s team probably spoilt me for life.
As the song says " If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor. "
I feel at times I have a right to shout on here that this ain't good enough because of what I've witnessed but I realise I'm fighting with other passionate supporters who have also witnessed glory days.
Once Everton has touched you mate you're never the same.
I will hope to see you back here mate because it won't be same without you.

10 Apr 2018 16:11:38

10 Apr 2018 16:57:50
It's been great hearing from you on here Grumpy, and obviously there are much more important things than football, as much as we love Everton. This site wouldn't be the same without you, as much as I've disagreed with a lot of your points, I think a difference of opinion is healthy and I appreciate your contributions and thoughts on the club that we all love. All the best mate, we're all thinking of you.

10 Apr 2018 17:56:19
Take it easy Grumpy and fingers crossed we'll speak next season.

10 Apr 2018 17:56:27

10 Apr 2018 18:27:33
Your health is your wealth Grumpy and good luck with your future. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family through these sad times. I second what ed025 said in asking you to keep in touch and let us know how you’re doing. That message was very touching mate.

10 Apr 2018 18:55:24
Grumpy I'm really sorry to hear about your illness. I don't know what your situation is but I know personally how a change in health can impact your life.

We didn't see eye to eye at all. However, with you winding us all up for 6 months then may be we did. I know one thing and that was we both wanted the Blues to be successful.

All i can say is make the most of everyday and if you've got a spare 5 minutes now and again come and say hello - and if you want to say Sam is amazing then i won't bite back - maybe😜

Good luck bud.

10 Apr 2018 21:30:56

Had to look at the calendar to make sure it was not April 1st. Didn't see that one coming Grumpy. Words cannot express but as you love proving people wrong I suggest you prove the Doctors/ Consultants wrong and get your arse back on this board as soon as possible.

An extra couple of words for you, Johnny 1989. It could not have been easy - and still won’t be - having to deal what you have dealt with in recent times. I hope us blues on the site can contribute to all the good vibes that deserve to (and surely will) come your way.
