like him or loathe him Big Sam has done the job which was required off him - keep us afloat in the premier league. I would be prepared to let him see out his contract and see exactly what he does in preseason - then if things go pear shape at the start of next season then get rid,

Over the years he has bought some great players ( and some donkeys ) as all managers do but at least give the man a chance - since he has taken over we are have taken 30 points - more than Arsenal and 4 behind Chelsea - not bad considering the football we have played.

I will be in the minority on this suggestion but hey this is what football forums are about - opinions.

I think the problem is if he buys and sells players and as you say it goes pear shaped who do you get to replace him as its his team, it's a catch 22 isn't it Sam could stay and lose the first 5 games and we will be baying for blood he could win the first 5 games and be a hero ish.
But we could get a new manager and the same could happen atm I think it's the sort of football we are playing that's getting fans down yes he has more points since he took over than Wenger and 4 behind Conte but look at the other stats we are pretty much bottom of the list for passing, shots, possession etc we need to find our identity again we need to draw a line under this season and see where we go from here.

Joking aren't ya. If he stays then I'd expect a few of our most promising players wanting to leave. Klaassen will be gone without any hope of been given a chance, Lookman will be gone and I'd expect Vlasic would be loaned out or sold. Even last night, Martina on bench ahead of Kenny. Only thing I can think of is Kenny is injured to be left out ahead of Martina. We are safe yet the football is atrocious to watch.

We as a club always seem to have promising players but what eventually happens to them - sold on / loaned out - we never seem to be able to keep a good youngster and develop them anyway.

yes the football is bad but not everyteam is going to be silky smooth like city or dare I say it the pool - points is what matters in this game and we may be bottom for shots, possesion, teacles etc but as long as the points are on the board that's what matters

we have had entertaining managers before ( martinez springs to mind ) - attractive attacking football - defence garbage - what happened to him, he was virtually hounded out of the club.

Martinez mad a very valid point about us as supporters we won't give any manager time to build anything unless we get silver ware. He has hit the nail on the head. Our last four managers, including Unsworth, highlight the fact that we like to see good football but it has to be winning. We loved both Martinez and Koeman while they were winning but when the results didn't go our way it was down to their tactics poor team selection style of play etc etc. With Unsworth he had not really had time to do anything but because he didn't have instant success he was to inexperienced not good enough tactics not right etc etc. SA the complete opposite he gets reasonable results but because his tactics are boring and the way we play is pretty dull he gets pilloried for it. I personally would be happy winning 1-0 every match with dire football than loose 3-4 and watch a fantastic game of loosing football. I am pretty sure though others would not be happy at all.

He's had his chance - an undeserved one
He kept us up although I think Unsworth, even Pardew could have done the same. (we weren't another West Brom)
Let's thank him. pay him off and move on.

Always said I would take 1-0 wins every time. bw2412 Pardew kept us up, are you on the Rasta Woodbines? What Allardyce needs to do is shut up and get on with it, it is opening his gob that winds me up and claiming credit for the West Ham game a good case in point. If he winds his neck in and let the results speak, we may see a change in supporter attitude.
