Watching Liverpool tonight and admittedly they were excellent (again) .

Watching them at the moment makes it even harder to watch Allardyce in the dugout for us.

From afar it doesn't look like klopp has done a huge amount for Liverpool tactically, especially if you compare it to the Rodgers season. What he has done incredibly well though is show the power of what can happen when your manager undrrstands the club and the fans.

Klopp understands Liverpool and gets that extra 10% out of the team because of it. Fergie understood utd, Mourinho got Chelsea (1st time around) and arguably inter as well, Guardiola undrrstands completely modern day city and where they're trying to go. And all of these examples loved their club.

And this is why I will never be happy with Allardyce. He doesn't understand Everton - the history, the fans, the area, the style - nothing. And he doesn't care either. I get the impression that he has no feelings for Everton whatsoever. I could also say the same about most of the job for hire managers (pardew, Hughes etc)

We need a manager who understands what Everton football club is about and only then will we be able to properly consider a sustained challenge on the top 6.

That's why ED025 put in a shout for Dyke and you can see where you both are coming from.
Whoever it is they need to embrace Everton and become part of the family.
Whoever it is, it is not Big Sam.

If you want a manager that really understands Everton as a club then you're really looking for a manager with a lot PL experience or an ex player. Dyke would be a good shout if that was your criteria for getting the job. Although I am not sure how his style of pay would be received by some of our fans. As its not dissimilar to how we are set up at the moment. I hate to say it but Benitez would be another option which I would not like one bit but if he won or drew and didn't loose I would take that.

I think that's a bit simplistic SA90.
Moyes understood Everton. Martinez, for all his other faults understood Everton. Dan Weis, an American, understands Everton. Ferguson got Man Utd, Shankly understood Liverpool. Klopp, a German, understands what fans of Liverpool want,
Koeman, Allardyce think only of themselves
I don't think it comes down to PL experience or being an ex player of the club. It's getting involved and engrossed in the club and its history rather than worrying about your own ego or being arrogant to the fans.

Exactly my thoughts bw. For me, non-negotiable criteria number 1 in a manager is that they care about Everton football club. I think that should be a minimum requirement.
