I see too much of martinez in Silva - plenty of attack and nice football but defence woeful.

my biggest concern is that if we do not get any of these defenders we are being linked too we may panic buy at the last minute - I would have thought before of loading mori we would have had a replacement already signed - we have mostly been linked with wingers ( which we already have ) and it looks like we are spending 30-50 mill on a bang average player imho
Time will only tell but at this stage I am not holding my breath on anything above 10th this season as it stands.

Well as Mori played zero minutes for us last season and we finished 8th, I’m not particularly worried about his departure. Add to the almost certain replacement of Bolasie who not for want of trying just wasn’t up to standard last season, with Richarlison. I actually think we can get more points than last season.

A fit Besic is looking a better option than Tom Davies (it pains me to say) . Sandro looked good against Porto so could provide competition for Theo. Certainly knows how to help Coleman out too.

So without any further signings I can already see improvements on last season.

Who knows. Maybe Silva will have us shooting at goal. Now that would be a step in the right direction.

If we start shooting at goal, well, I'm not sure what I'd do.
Don't think my heart will take such a drastic change in tactic.

Shots at goal next season disgusting what next playing a lb at lb. Before we make any judgments we should wait to see what happens from now till the 1st game I'm sure Silva is working with the players on the pitch and Brands is working 24/ 7 on targets we need.

Toffee ace great post that mate. Couldn’t agree more with your post!

Also to add to that with the departure of Big Sam. Hopefully a lot of the negativity around goodison will have gone.

Should see us playing high press quick turn around football which we all enjoy.

Everton the gear.

Lee1878 my question to the eds (generally) a couple of weeks ago but not fully answered (I understand none of us can be certain) , was along your lines. Who is the lead negotiator on Everton's behalf.

24 Jul 2018 17:18:12
Pav you're insane.

24 Jul 2018 18:12:48
Pavillion you talk a lot of sense, we will do well to finish 10th.

{Ed025's Note - just enjoy the ride guys and dont set targets, we are a team who are re-building and its a guess as to where we will finish, higher? lower? who knows but if im entertained i can live with either mate..

I am quite worried with the defence we have at the moment as age and inexperience seems to be in abundance with this lot - Mori was not everyones cup of tea but with game time from his injuries he was a good sub to have ( he did play last season for about 100 mins I think )

The likes of Klassen can be sold as plenty of midfielders within the squad but defence has been shaky for quite a while now .

I don't think I could stick 3-3 every week - the nerves would be shot lol.

If I can offer one crum of comfort, Kendall’s magnificent 7 ended with the goalkeeper being the one who went on to great things just a few more years down the line.

Fast forward and again we have Pickford as the pick of the bunch, anything is possible, we got laughed at with Kendall’s first batch of signings, we got laughed at with similar last season, could history repeat itself, you just never know.

{Ed025's Note - you really dont bignev..

24 Jul 2018 19:39:34
Start worrying if we have the same defence at the start of the season, I very much doubt we will have.
We've just wrapped up a signing in less than a week so I'm sure we can get some in fast now.

25 Jul 2018 05:49:14
I wish all the doubters would at least wait until we've played a few games Just give them a break and let's see how they do. I don't understand why people have to want to be negative all the time instead of wishing for what we all want - a successful Everton

COYB NSNO.

As a Liverpool fan you are overpaying for him (as we have for players) BUT if you get that potential out of him he’s surely going to be worth it. Plus if you do sell him on after a few good seasons you’ll be getting way more than the £50 million paid.
