While Niasse is obviously a nice guy with a first rate attitude he is most definitely not even a top six striker . If we have any ideas of breaking into the top four we need to be more ruthless and less sentimental. I would wish Oumar all the luck in the world but in my view I can't agree that Silva would be mad to let him go, as previously posted . DKL will have far less chances than last season and giving him as much playing time as possible is a far better option .

Nothing sentimental about it. How many times did this no hoper of a non-top six striker save our bacon last season. The guy may appear to be a headless chicken but nobody can deny he has an uncanny ability to appear in the right place at the right time. Quite worth keeping in my view.

Agree with Gary there, not good enough for me either.

How many top quality 3rd choice strikers are out there.

Funny journey for Niasse. I'm with Garyo and GB, thank you very much for getting vital goals at vital times but I'd prefer we let him go.

Sadly Niasse's Everton career was over before he even got a chance to play. Ironically by the Everton supporters themselves! Could do a job for some teams but if we are looking to progress I'm sorry imho not good enough to take us to the next level. I would imagine a striker is one of the priority positions for Everton F. C. now that other areas were strengthened in the last window.

If we was getting beat 1-0 with 10 minutes to go i would put my money on Niasse getting a goal if he come on over Calvert lewin. i'm not saying calvert lewin isn't a decent player and can do a job, but niasse does look more likey to get a goal .

If there was still the opportunity to sign a better forward all you people saying we should get rid of Niasse my have had a point but letting him go now when we can't sign a replacement would nothing short of moronic. There are worse players in this squad to be shipped out before we get around to Niasse.

It’s not simply a case of whether he’s good enough for a top 6 team. Brands and Silva have inherited a squad. They’ve worked wonders so far in reducing the squad size and bringing in replacements of a greater quality. Long term, Niasse may be deemed surplus to requirements. But short term, Niasse is needed for me. If Tosun picks up a long term injury, we’d need options. Assess again in January and July.

I'm afraid I have to be honest and say I'm one of those who think Niasse isn't a top 6 player. He's scored some important goals for us which we should be grateful for. Like all strikers he's also missed some as well but it is his link up play that let's him down in my opinion. I haven't seen any stats but don't think his pass conversion rate would be good, nor his assists although I know he has had some. I just don't think the team plays with the same cohesion with him in the side.

One massive caveat though. The window is closed. If Tosun gets injured, who plays, who sits on the bench as backup. DCL is the future but is he going to get us the goals now. I'm sure Richarlison or Walcott think they could play through the middle but do we damage our creativity down the flanks. Hornby needs game time in the U23's.

For these reasons I would keep him until at least the opening of the next window. He can make an impact coming on late but long term - I don't think so.

{Ed001's Note - his pass percentage this season so far is 58.3%.}

Love all these posts saying Niasse isn't a top 6 striker because last time I checked we weren't even a top 6 team.

21 Aug 2018 07:32:46
Thanks Ed but it doesn't take into account the circumstances. Not having a go at him but I bet Schids percentage last year was better but it was all sideways or backwards whereas Niasse had a centre half up his backside.

I just think we aren't as fluid with Niasse as we are with a Tosun or a Calvert Lewin. He lacks close control or awareness of others for me.

21 Aug 2018 07:36:15
You're right Dentielad but don't we want to be? That means getting in top 6 players.

21 Aug 2018 09:01:34
Where is Bernard going to fit into the team? We have him, Lookman, Walcott and Richarlison as our wide men taking up 2 places. Surely one of those would be an option up front IF something happened to both Tosun and DCL. Also Sandro is still here. I know he's hasn't lit up the premier league but he is still an option.

So imho this thing of saying we don't have any other players is nonsense. We obviously do. There is other players I could mention too like Bolasie. Yes they might not be top notch either but they are there and given the chance they may prove themselves too. Why shouldn't they all get a chance. More players there than Niasse.

21 Aug 2018 12:46:00
Sandro isn't an option. That's 4 coaches now who have all told us so yet some still don't get it. Unbelievable.

21 Aug 2018 12:55:06
ATM we are not too good for Niasse. I don't won't to say Fact! because I don't want to come across a tit (like my name suggests ☺) but I don't even feel like its an opinion. We are not in Europe either. Niasse is sound for this season.

21 Aug 2018 13:02:29
Ricky is also a CF and played most of his short career there. Add that to Theo and DCL and we have cover everywhere.

Niase deserves to play regular football but somewhere else.

21 Aug 2018 14:35:26
Myteamsbetterthanyours that's quite ironic what you say about Sandro. Niasse himself was dead and buried like Sandro is now but he reclaimed himself yet you think Sandro can't do the same?

There are other players at the club besides Niasse. Fair play to him for redeeming himself when it looked like even his own mother had ruled him out. Martinez didn't give him much of a chance and he signed him. Koeman didn't even give him a locker. Big Sam didn't give him much time either.

He was in a worse place than Sandro is now and got back to playing and winning over fans. Anyway Sandro was only one player mentioned in my post. What about the other 7 players mentioned.

21 Aug 2018 19:25:36
Sandro had definitely improved himself in pre season and considering how we are playing now compared to how we performed preseason. Maybe Sandro has a part to play in this squad.
I think we are getting a bit ahead of ourselves wanting rid of someone who is pretty happy being a 3rd choice striker.

22 Aug 2018 15:35:52
I don't think there's much between Niasse and Sandro aside from that Niasse scores a few goals. Sandro buzzes around just as much as Niasse but I cannot see him (or Niasse for that matter) playing week in, week out up top if Tosun got injured.

I'd personally put Richarlison up front with Lookman or Bernard on the left if Tosun were to be out.

That being said, I definitely think we need to sign a quality striker in the next 12 months. I do like Tosun and realise that we have far more goals coming from elsewhere now in Richarlison, Walcott etc, but if we had a 20 goal a season striker we'd really challenge the top 6 consistently IMO.

Now I've said that, Tosun will probably bag 25 goals this season. If he does, you're welcome.

Niasse is a very good option to bring off the bench, He came off the bench in the last two games and both of them he beat his man, created a goal scoring chance, and both of those occasions if Coleman’s pass was better he would of scored, he has to stay.
