P. s who would you have suggested Everton get as manager instead of Silva?
And no one said he was world class now but most football people believe he could become world class if he reaches his full potential.

{Ed002's Note - I have previously exp[lained about managers. You don’t get this thing about World Class.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Geoff, SAF was a game away from being sacked and went on to be the best ever manager in my opinion, Martinez got Belgium to semi final of world cup, zinedene Zidane had a trial at Blackburn if memory serves me right. point being time will tell. we have all been emotional and hasty in our opinions since Moyes left. best not to speculate. we have a manager and a squad of players he currently totally believes in ( the ones he doesn't were sold or sent on loan) .

If Ed002 (exasperated as he is) will not answer you I will. A proven winner is Benitez, just think what he would be able to do with our resources. The only downside is his willingness or not to work with a Dog. Of course Silva being our Manager has my support but Ed002 is quite right, Silva has not up to now shown he has loyalty and longevity. If you analyse our first 4 games are we saying that an Alardyce, Martinez or Koeman would not have done the same (or in Martinez and Koemans case even better) . In my view this was an appointment of infatuation and bad advice rather than well researched and cold hard facts. I hope I am wrong in my pessimism.

Ktf, an observation, Silva spent 8 or 9 years at the same club as a player and manager, and then went on this merry go round from olyypiakis, hull Watford and now Everton - over last 4 years or so. Moyes spent 11 yes at Everton, then for various reasons man utd, socieaded, Sunderland, Westham - he was sacked of course rather than left of his own accord, but some times things just don't work out. Allardyce, redknapp, Warnock, pullis, hollaway, have all had multiple clubs (mainly though sackings) , but sh! t happens in life. some times you have been sold a bagger of spanners, some times you make poor decisions. The fact remains that time will tell. for Silva, brands, lookman, mina, Bernard. Whether these guys are committed, reliable, can learn English, integrate themselves in to team or not is still to be seen. If I'd have had 100% control of decision benitez would have been my choice when Moyes left, but if my aunty had b@lls she would be my uncle.

I don't quite get the language bit either Bernard and Richarlison are Brazilian, their language is Portugese Silva is portugese. Mina speaks Spanish, most people including Silva and our family dog speak Spanish. I do not see that as being a problem on the pitch. A name call is not beyond capability. All the new players I like. Lookman is a very good player, given his chance (better than DcL in that position) , his confidence will grow.

{Ed002's Note - Complete and utter nonsense.}

Dcl is an out an out centre forward for me and is improving each season. looking stronger and faster, and his touch improving. Having lived abroad in several non English speaking countries. my experience has been that the basic communication skills can be picked up quite quickly. obviously being fluent is something else but. establishing basic Comms is a big help and not unachievable in a short space of time. the sooner the non English speaking boys do that the quicker they will gel. and I imagine they will want to learn the lingo. will make their overall lifealot easier/ better.

Jcl my take exactly. Lived and worked all over the World. Most places started out with a smattering of the Local language. Even played football for Hong Kong National side and no Ed002 some did not speak English.

Ed002 first time I have taken issue with you on a statement. Complete and utter nonesense?

{Ed002's Note - Your statement that "most people including Silva and our family dog speak Spanish" is utter nonsense.}

02 Sep 2018 20:03:01
Ed002, Oh yeah, of course it was, attempt at tongue in cheek backfired, I will give you that, Sorry about the squiglly typing. I back track the issue statement.

{Ed002's Note - No problem.}
