Who is to blame? MS . BK . FM. Brands. or All of the above, . Or is it deep rooted in the club is something amiss because I just don't know any more I'm at the point of giving up for good.

{Ed025's Note - its a combination skylark and i dont think any of the above are totally blameless, it started in the mid eighties when we won the league and never bothered to strengthen and sat on our laurels, from then we have been in decline and more than once flirted with relegation, no matter who we have brought in there has always been a cloud around this club since then, we have tried numerous things but nothing has really worked even though we have had short bursts where it looked like the tide had turned, i wish it was something i could pinpoint but im at a loss as to where the problem actually lies mate, anyway on we go to the next installment of being an evertonian and all the heartbreak that this brings..

Agree0 Disagree0

I was there when we won the league I was there before it and have been there ever since and you are right we have put ourselves in this mess and I just can't see a way out at the moment I think appointing silver has put us back another 5 years sorry to say.

{Ed025's Note - but is it always the managers fault skylark?, koeman and martinez are actually doing very nicely with their respective national posts mate..

So maybe we should have kept Martinez? We are la laughing stock at the moment and have been for a long time . something needs to change.

{Ed025's Note - i dont pretend to know the answers skylark mate..

I don’t think it was a case of sitting on our laurels it was a combination of factors, loosing sir John moores as our chairman, and his investment we were no longer the millionaires club, the ban from Europe in the eighties loss of funding stream, the players wanted European football moved away even Howard went to Spain.

We just got left behind. Then there was the agent Johnson years, while everyone else moved forward we stagnated. Now we’re trying to play catch up, we still need the stadium to bring in the revenue for us to compete on a level playing field ( pun intended) with fair play rules we just can’t expect Mr Moshiri to plough money in endlessly.

Which ever analogy you care to pick silk purse sows ear, Rome built in a day and you can’t polish a turd, success isn’t going to happen overnight, yes we were poor and some of our team need to grow a pair and get stuck in, but we need stability maybe this season is a dead duck but, we need a second summer window, same management, thin the squad and buy quality and build slowly.

oh and bin zonal marking a space isn’t going to score a goal but an unblocked opponent will
Hope that makes sense,
Standing by to repel all borders

There has been one constant in all that time ED. As to Martinez and Koeman, of the two I would have kept Martinez. Said all along Martinez is a good coach in need of a good overseer, DoF. To manage coach Belgium and Netherlands is vastly different to Club management.

{Ed025's Note - i get that DFS but they seem to be getting more out of their players than they ever did with us mate..

Martinez would have got us relegated.
