Just looked and I said Sam's win % at us was 38 with a goal difference of - 3.
Silavas record so far is win %39 with a goal difference of +2 so for silva to be a poor replacement he's not doing much difference really apart from scoring more than he concedes and actually tells his players to shoot we had the least shots in the league under Sam just let that sink in mate u say he sets out to win in football he does not he sets out not to lose which is fine if u want to stay in the prem but I would hope wer not just after staying up anymore, I think if Sam would have come to us 20 years ago then he would have been a good appointment but now? No chance.

Sorry this is a follow up rant the original part of which is on the others page.

I will always remember him for that interview sting. Offering to help them fudge the FA rules, whilst working for the FA, in return for a load of cash.
He's a great guy isn't he?

Best forgotten about lads.

Totally agree GB if u read the first part of that rant on the others page u will see its all directed towards Sam's agent I mean ducksflysouth just to point out that silva is actually doing better than Sam whilst working with a massive squad and trying to sift threw the crap we currently have on the payroll.
We need to clear our squad to the bare bones and start again with youth and a few hand picked older professionals to guide the younger lads and for me that's what brands and silva are doing I guarantee we will be better next year after the 2 of them have had 2 summers to get the team how they want it we will se improvement.

I am glad Sam is not our manager but he did what he was asked to do so why knock him. We are still a prem club and we might not have been if we had got Silva at that time I reckon.

Spot on Johny mate.

Allardyces stats for Everton are only slightly better than Silvas at Hull so I see no reason why Silva couldn't have gotten us to 8th.

Of course Smit mate, another spot on post.

There is just no comparisson with the team we had under Sam. but a lot of the blame lies at Martinez/ Koeman eras! The squad we had under Moyes was strong but ageing. It was also balanced. no matter what you say about quality, we attacked.

In Moyes' last season we regularly had stats of 60 to 70% possession and scored lots of goals. We just couldn't seem to muster enough to get into the top 6. Martinez brough Barry and Lukau in and was fortunate that Barkley was maturing. But he signed a load of terrible players too. When Lukaku left we were exposed. Koeman came in and added some bang average players.

When he lost Barkley, we were so weak in midfield and I was writing on here every week about how we were lacking left sided midfielders and our players were either old or young and not many in between. Koeman then had that dreadful transfer window whereby we signed (not my words but others) five number 10's. Well our squad was then at its weakest since Walter Smith's days.

I really thought we would go down. 3 reasons: Lack of left sided players, lack of players at their peak and no center forward. Sam Allardyce was brought in to secure our place in the Premiership. I suspect Unsworth could have done this. it was clear Koeman had lost the players in the dressing room. A change was needed and it was Allardyce. He did what he had to do but got hacked off because at Everton we have an expectation of the School of Science.

We are not the Wimbledon hoof it brigade (sorry Wimbledon) . I point all this out because the fault lies not at Silva nor Allardyce. The fault lies at Martinez and Koeman/ the club. Martinez for allowing a squad to age to the extent he did and not signing left sided players and signing players frankly not good enough. Koeman for initially making progress but then having a nightmare transfer window and losing the confidence of the players.

Silva has players with creativity. We attack far more than under Allardyce. we just need to defend set pieces now. If he can sort that out we will be challenging for the top 6. Patience is now needed. He has taken us back to where we were at the end of Moyes' time. Silva needs 2 or 3 more transfer windows and we will see his team develop.
