With Jags and Baines not in our starting 11 and Coleman hasn’t played all the time and probably won’t start next season.
We have lost leaders on the pitch. Previous managers have brought in leaders into the team when maybe they haven’t been the best players ie Neville and Barry. It’s obvious to see the impact Van Dijk has made at Liverpool.
I’m not sure who is available for us but think a signing of a leader is critical now. The loss v Newcastle would never happen with a leader on the pitch. Has anyone got any suggestions of players who maybe a available with this attribute?

They are a dying breed but any of. Lascelles, mooy, doucoure, vardy, noble, mee, boly, schmeicel,
Deeney.
Preferably Lascelles, doucoure and vardy.

I am amazed we are not developing our own leaders. Something must be wrong if players are not prepared to stand up on the pitch and be leaders. Is it this zonal marking that is causing a problem? Are players waiting for someone else to lead? Is Marco expecting them all to lead instead of designating a leader? If they had pride when wearing the shirt they would lead. The only decent leaders I can think of are in teams above us.

Holgate looks like he might turn out to be a leader. Let's hope he comes back.

NB57 Its takes time to develop leaders so you need to be looking at players that are likely to be in the squad / team for a considerable amount of time but more importantly the player needs to have the characteristics to lead. Tom D has being given the chance and is looking like a good option DCL would be another to work with. We may find that once some of the newer signings settle they may well start taking on more of a leadership role, also you need to consider language difficulties which do cause issues when snap decisions are being made at crucial times.

John Stones has the leadership qualities who could have taken over from Jags, but too late now as he’s gone. Others may disagree.

Well we need a striker so let's get Stones back. After all he spent more time in the oppositions box than he did in ours.

Feeney got a voice on him, constantly talking his defence thru the game. He is surely close to having his big breakthrough.

I don’t think there is a need to develop a strong leader. Just a need to have one. None of the top six have a stand out home grown leader in their teams. VVD, Kompany, Matic etc have all been brought in to lead so no reason why we can bring one in either.

But one things for sure, we are missing a Peter Reid or a Dave Watson and a Big Nev. I want to have a captain who comes off the pitch sounding like Sean Dyche with throat infection.

Smit it does seem that way that they are a dying breed.
Maybe the likes of Keane or Schneiderlin may step up and be the voice on the pitch.
For all the criticism Silva has had he can’t be blamed if there are no leaders on the pitch.
I remember when Moyes was Manager and the strong team we had then when Neville didn’t play the team didn’t click the same. It’s hard to explain but the team only plays at 80/ 90%.
