People still talking about signing a striker. Calvert - Lewin was man of the match today. as per Sky and me! The reason we have strung together a few decent results is because we have obviously worked on our defending and particularly at set pieces. DCL will be a great player and is just starting to mature. Bernard and Richarlison work so much better than any of our other wide pairings. But like I keep saying, we need clean sheets and we are starting to get them. and results then follow. Even if we have no decent center forward we will pick up results. There seems to be an obsession about it. but give DCL a few games to prove himself. He was awesome today.

See what you are saying Degsy mate DCL was great, but in my view we just need a proven striker to put some of the so many chances we had to kill the game off,11 good chances we had in that game this afternoon says it all.

I feel slightly sorry for dcl really. I think he is a good striker, played in the right way, but not sure if he can be OUR out and out, number 1 striker if we have big ambitions.

Agree mate he is good but not Richarlison? he needs to man up and stop crying every five min, but we need a goal poacher? DCL not that yet.

Would be interesting to see what he would be like with another decent striker up there with him. Oh for Sharpe and Gray.

Bernard man of the match for me. The lad is a class act.
DCL is improving but if we want to reassert ourselves as the 7th best team and even challenge the top 6 we need a Lacazette or Aubameyang type striker.
It should have been 3 or 4 today.

Guernsey we had all them chances fall to siggy richarlison and Bernard because of the work lewin did, without him today we dnt have anywhere near the chances we had.

I agree johny mate DCL man of the match.

07 Apr 2019 19:14:29
If we could get a target man then maybe some of those chances would go in the back of the net, we are getting so close to being top 6 side.

So are the likes of Wolves in particular GB. At the moment we need to establish ourselves as best of the rest and that realistically is cementing 7th as our right (Moyes) . We have bought and supposedly have a better Squad than last Season, so isn't it reasonable to expect that we at least finish 8th (after all Alardyce was so hopeless) . Not wishing an argument, we just need a touch of reality. As for DCL, give the lad some meat and he will be another Sharp.

DCL is going to be a brilliant striker. His attitude is spot on and his development is well on track. It’s very rare to get the finished article at his age. If we could just be patient then we will have a striker to be proud of.

I love the guy. His ability to hold up the ball makes Lukaku look like an amateur. Yet we crave a replacement but we all bemoaned his poor touch.

We will have our reward as I’m certain this boy will get better with both his accuracy and his decision making. He’s not that far away now tbf.

He has been excellent since he has been first choice up top. This can only get better.

Toffee Ace, hopefully DCL comes good but we still need either a replacement or competition for him.

BCT. forget about Allardyce. What we are watching is a million miles away from the tripe Allardyce produced. We are a force again.
Allardyce had Burnley and Leicester to fight off, this season is different with 3 other teams spending north of 100million. Whether we finish 8th or not we have improved.

These last few weeks should be the end of any Allardyce talk. Let's just sweep the embarrassment of having the crook as manager under the carpet.

What Silva has shown is that sticking with his defensive training means any defender can bow step in and be as effective.

Lee1616, Man Up, are you for real. The lad is 22, aggressive as a lion, speed to dream of and the punishment he takes and gets up again jeez. Couple that with his coming back to pick up, lay offs etc! With the team coming together (Silva not chopping and changing) , the lad was MoM today.

Toffeace has it right. He is not the finished article yet and whilst he needs to develop his finishing, he is not missing sitters. its about learning to get in positions. he has improved no end and physically is looking better and better. Remember he is 22. that's 10 more seasons with luck. If he continues at his current rate of improvement he will be a great player. Give him a chance guys. Believe me he can and will improve. At 25 you can judge him. He is dead on progress.

DCL can and will become a very good target man that we all crave, what he needs is a clever number 10 to pick up the space that's left open by his movement that brings defenders with him. Once we get the midfield runners we will finish the chances we created today. As other posters have stated he is 22 and this is his first real run in the side, Harry Kane had a few seasons in lower leagues before his breakthrough, DCL hasn't had that he was picked up without the real experience. Yes we need a striker but to complement his game not to hinder his progress.
