Rooney, 32, will snub the move to the United States if manager Sam Allardyce leaves.

looking at Rooneys stats before and after Christmas I disagree I still think Rooney has something to offer and think it should be Sam sacked and Rooney kept.

me too Stig Rooney is a blue and can see the damage being done to our club and if Rooney threatening to leave forces the boards hand I'm glad he has done it.

Ooh Rooney or Sam. That's like asking, do you want a Ferrari or an STD.

{Ed001's Note - more like, do you want a clapped out old banger than a Ferrari, let's be honest. His legs went years ago and he has about as much mobility as Sam these days.}

although his legs aren't what they were his football brain is still there ED01 and if you get fast legs around him who make the right runs Rooney will pick them out I think he has suffered more than most with Sam as manager.

{Ed001's Note - if he had a brain he would be dangerous. Sorry but he has been awful for years and he was one of your weakest links before Sam arrived. In fact you were all saying it on here before Allardyce was picked, all moaning he needed to be dropped. Now you are all letting your hatred for Allardyce cloud that.}

Got to agree with ed on this one, he has helped us Rooney but he is well past it now, we need younger legs, too many times I’ve seen him this season just get the ball stolen off him by a younger man, turned inside out and left behind. On top of that although it would be great to see Sam go now, I admit I was willing to give him a chance and even fought his corner at first, the man now has me disillusioned with the stuff he does and the crap he chats, I really don’t want to see players start dictating and holding the board to ransom.

If he not happy let him go, then let Sam go as well. Yes, players do help portray the feelings of the fans, which helps, but don’t want us turning into a Chelsea, where players just constantly undermine the manager and the people in charge allow it.

I think Rooney still got a lot to offer, think he is good for the kids, future in backroom staff.

To be honest, ed001, I've always thought that around ten goals would be a realistic target for WR to hit. Without them goals, we would be 7 or 8 points worse off so I think he has been successful in his return. I agree he is definitely not the same player that he has been in previous years and, if he ends up staying, I think next season he will be spending more time on the bench.
The entire squad has been below par this season and there have been worse players getting game time than Wayne, Williams and Martina spring to mind. I wouldn't be unhappy if he ends up staying but I would wish him well if he moved on.

I agree in part with Ed001 about his mobility, but his footballing brain is still fully functional and that could be invaluable to the younger lads. Plus I don't think he'll mind being used as a sub more if we are winning/ playing more attractive football. He is clearly unhappy with the Fat Man's tactics imo and I think he's been really clever hinting he'll leave if the Fat Man stays.

Do we need a 150k ambassador for the Kids?
I think its sensible to call time now.
He can take the Sun and easy life of the states or he can take the signing on fee, barely play, leave the family behind and head to China for 6 months.

He has done himself ok this season. The surroundings of a poor season have maybe done for him.
I wanted him back but he can barely move these days. He needs so much space and time that to be honest young average players are getting the best of him.

I actually think he should retire myself. I bet he tanks wherever he goes, regardless the lower standard. Pace is key. Shame he doesn't get a last run out.
