Great news that Roberto Martinez has signed a new five year contract. I love it when the club gets everything in place on the QT and only announces something once it's done and dusted. Don't get me wrong - I love the rumours and gossip as much as other fans - but seeing the club carrying out its business so professionally is a sign of real class in my humble opinion. Now let's get our top players on extended contracts and also let's bring in some quality signings (permanent and loans) and let's bring more of our promising youngsters through to the first team.

Hi Ed, Do you know why we have not put a bid in gor Gomis from Lyon? We showed interest in him in January, he's now on a free and it looks like Newcastle will sign him, he's not a world beater but he would get us goals, and would'nt cost anything

{Ed002's Note - No idea.}

Gomis might need to join his French gang at NU.

We have enough strikers that can do a job we need a guranteed goalscorer

He is much better than Kone, and would get us goals, I think he would do more than just a job

Apparently we're looking at:

Yacine Brahimi - an extremely skillful winger (only Ribery averages more dribbles per game in all of European football (even more than Messi)), but a bit Townsend-esq in the way there isn't much of an end product, but his stats aren't as bad and in a better team than Granada, he could excel.

Jeremain Lens - Pretty similar player. Not as skillful, but better end product.

Stefan De Vrij - Very composed and talented centre back. Been linked with him for a while now.

Provided we don't overpay (around £4/5m), Brahimi could be a good signing, although, with McGeady, we don't really need another quick, skillful winger, we need another Pienaar. Lens is the same. De Vrij could be an excellent signing, but will likely cost a bit.
