I notice some people still haven't warmed to Big Sam yet and still see his appointment as a mistake. Each to their own I guess. But give the man a break, he's only been here five minutes! Okay, we aren't playing attractive attacking football yet, but I'm sure that'll come once we've made a few additions to the squad and are back to full strength. We are out of the slump we were in and out of danger of relegation and to me that's something to be positive about.

BigH 'out of relegation danger' errmmm, a bit premature. I like Sam Alardyce and would have had him ages ago. However, after the initial burst, we have now gone 6 games without a win and lost the last 3, so not exactly out of a slump.

He’s done what he got paid for (very handsomely, I might add) . The board thought the prospect of relegation was very real - appointed Allardyce to get us out of it, he has. The ugly side of it is now, we aren’t trying to attack.

Praying, and expecting him to leave come May to make way for either Silva or Fonseca.

would just like to add to that, we are starting to play a lot better though, wins will come, good post Big H.

Personally don’t think Sam will ever play attractive football, just not his nature, he doesn’t know how to.

And before people mention Okocha let me say this, if you put Neymar in Tony Pulis’ Stoke team he would still do tricks regardless of what game plan the manager has.

{Ed025's Note - i think we should give the guy a chance before we judge him swan..

13 Jan 2018 16:34:14
So swan even tho he is coming out himself admitting he needs to have a team playing entertaining football and getting results so that he keeps his position in the club, he won’t change? He actually played more attacking football in his last year at West Ham, but after getting them promotion the fans and the owners thinking they were more than what the are wanted a more high profile manager. Labelled him and stabbed him in the back. Many times I’ve said, our team was crap a few months back, injured players not included, aged defence, we need a overhaul. All of a sudden people forget this and think we can just turn on the flare and become a creative team with the same players that RK tried and failed with.

Sam has made us solid at the back again which what was needed when he took over know we need transition from defence into attack and if you look at the way Sam's teams play then you will see that Sam's teams have pace in the final third with two pacey wingers so we can hit teams on the break and change between defence and attack quickly and it's only recently that we have Yannick back from injury so that adds a bit more pace to are attack and are continuing interest in Walcott.

I think we saw are improvement in fa cup match when Yannick was excellent and when lookman came on we looked a lot more threatening. We need to give Sam this transfer window and the summer window before we can truly judge him and his team but let's not forget during Sam's time at bolton he did bring in flair players in as well.

Well actually in his last season at West Ham he was told by the owners to play attractive football.

Ed, give him a chance? We have mate. This match vs Spurs proves how rubbish we are. Allardyce honeymoon period over and look! It’s been a month since our last win and Spurs have had more shots on target in 30 mins than we have in 5 hours.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - i know its not great dan but lets see how we fare against the lesser teams and see where we are in another month or so..

13 Jan 2018 19:39:59
Why swan you got inside information? Ever thought maybe he had changed enough playing staff to change the style of football?

Understand we are more solid at the back Duke (Spurs 4) and give the guy a go etc but we are ninth because of other teams failings and not because of our own efforts Last wins were mid December Sure give Sam till end of season and mid table finish but then get someone fresh in.

When has Alladyce ever had the opportunity at a club of this stature, for God’s sake give the man a chance he’s having to make do with 2 years worth of poor purchases!

people are defending big Sam and that's fine but our match stats make for scary reading in our last 5 premiership games we have won 0 scored 1 conceded 8 and had 4 SHOTS on target I'm sorry but I think Moshiri could already be regretting hiring Sam (remember it was a panic appointment) and I think he will be let go at the end of the season especially if these performances carry on.

Solid at the back? 4-0. No shots on target? He fked up against bmouth and wba, he needs 4 points at least from next two home games other wise questions have to be asked.

If those stats are true bluey then there is no excuse for that. Absolutely pathetic. If we don't beat Wba and Leicester then action has to be taken.

OllBlue1878 it hurts to watch us play we must be the worst side in the premiership at atacking teams and I like the way Sam doesn't sugar coat it he says it how it is but all he is doing at the min is talking a Good game because on the field we are a shambles.

BeStyrne, so at the huge amount of jobs he’s had in the premier league, us, West Ham, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Blackburn and Bolton he played the same dire football and we are supposed to believe he always wanted to play boss football at every club but he was a victim of circumstance? Come on. I don’t need inside information to have an opinion mate, neither do you and neither does anyone on this site. It doesn’t take inside information to tell we are playing terrible football and not getting results.

It is hard to defend big Sam when he doesn't play his best players in their best positions. Rooney deeper against West ham was his best game, siggy should be one of the 1st on the team sheet at no10, if Gana/ mccarthy are playing as a defensive mid then at least ask them to drop into defence when one of the full backs go forward. Correction. When our RB goes forward.

Swan The problem mate is this is the same team that got stuffed before Sam was here, mate come on all of a sudden we all forget this, to me the recent results have just fuelled the SA haters. The team has got no better just cause the manager has changed, results don’t lie, we are at this time a disjointed team that needs overhauling. I don’t give a crap if Sam stays or goes, but the reality is that the squad of players is not good enough. Martinez and Koeman has a style of play that the players could not achieve, yet everyone wants a manger that plays a similar style of play, what will this manager do to change the players into this flair side that others couldn’t. Except manager has to take blame, but can not blame a manager that inherits a team that has failed under 3 other managers, and has had no chance to change playing personnel. Any manager no matter who they are will inherit this team, we need to give a manager a chance to change it, SA may well be a stepping stone, but just going through managers left right and centre will not address the playing staff situation, until that is done we are what we are.
